Since there appears to be a lull in quake activity, perhaps one of the resident experts would have time to answer the question about MMS numbers I asked a page or so back.

LA is waking up:

2.2 earlier and now a 2.9 unless it was revised from the earlier one.

Looks like the Fiorland area over here in New Zealand got hit again by a 4.8 last night (Monday)... no reports of anything so far.

TVNZ

Also I saw on Santa Cruz got hit by another one 6.8 it seems.

TVNZ 2

These NZ quakes are getting progressively shallower, compared to the depths I used to see indicated on quake reports a few years ago. Used to see 80+ now most are bellow 25 or so.

5.1 just came in for Western Iran.

Not sure how significant that is.

I'm watching these with you.
I could feel something this morning in an office building that I work in sometimes.
We were getting little movements here and there.
The building is on wheels - so there is this really weird feeling like you're on water sometimes.

heh, only just noticed this one just now from Teletext (checked international news but didnt check the national
)

Looks like this morning at 3am we got hit by a 5.5 in the Bay of Plenty at a depth of over 150kms.

TVNZ

Thing I want to know is... just how powerful is a 5.5 that happened at that depth should it ever happen at surface level?, I mean the quake sensors I guess are basically on the surface (I mean as far as i know we have none km's bellow the surface of the earth) so if it registered as a 5.5, that could be felt through out the entire north island, just what sort of power would it have if it had hit even 20km's from the surface...

Heck i know nothing but, id guess you'd have a 10.0+ if anything like that ever hit real close... or am i wrong in thinking this?

(AP) - A minor earthquake has rattled portions of northern Arkansas.

The U.S. Geological Survey says a quake with a magnitude of 2.8 was recorded about 7:20 a.m. Friday near Higden, about 52 miles north of Little Rock.

It was not immediately known if the quake was felt in the area. Earthquakes with magnitudes of 2.5 to 3 are the smallest generally felt by people.

It's the second straight day that earthquakes have been recorded in the state. Two small earthquakes rattled central Arkansas overnight Thursday and a third shook the area Thursday afternoon. But they were so minor that local residents felt nothing.

Yeah literally right under my house!!!!!! Was setting here surfing through the threads here on ATS and BAM it started rocking and rollin for about 20 seconds.

It wasn't very deep either not even a mile down.

Still amped up on adrenaline from it.

Checked the usgs site and downloaded the kml and opened GEarth and I could walk to the location in about a minute.

Weird.
