Clearly, he misspoke. In the context of his rambling sentence, he understood that Africa is a continent. Regardless of what you think of Chris Matthews, the guy is not a dummy. And, if he had been reading from a teleprompter he would not have made that mistake. His mouth moves faster than his brain. Or, maybe he forgot his insulin.
