I'd like to chime in with comments, not pictures, sorry....

However, have seen these incredible pictures....some of them of actual places on Earth (ala 'Death Valley'....a place I've actually visitied, btw) and other pictures showing weird cloud formations.

I have a little knowledge of meteorology, based on my experience as a pilot...over 30 years' experience, by the way...and I have seen some cloud formations when I wished I had a camera handy to snap a photo.

But, those combinations, those snapshots, with just the correct lighting at just the correct moment as certain clouds were forming, those are one in a thousand, or even several thousand photos....they were the 'keepers' of someone's body of work.

I'm sure that actual Meteorologists may be better able to describe some of those photos better than I, but I will just leave this image in your minds:

Professional photographers often spend hours and hours just waiting for the 'perfect' shot...AND, just as you see in the motion pictures, they are experts at using various filters to achieve a desired 'look'....

...food for thought.

I am taking you up on that offer, and post an image of the fantastic Giant's Causeway in Ireland. It’s an area made up of 40,000 interlocking basalt columns. The steps are the result of an ancient volcanic eruption.

More photos of these wonderful formations here:

Before I die, I have to go to that place in Ireland! GREAT step formation! really video game-ish.
Makes me want to fire up my emulator; Stella, & play Q bert like the good old days!

Perhaps whats most amazing about this picture you posted is that there are no hotels, towers or tourist traps along side the falls to mess up the scene.
Nice!

Thats is a very interesting and amazing place. My favorite were the trees resembling mushrooms. I LOVE how they grow so perfectly. That island is one place I would love to visit to see these amazing pieces of nature.
