Yup, I was wandering that too....time confuses me...

I'm also quite intrigued about the idea of focusing the meditation on a specific target, like rain in Nevada...how would we measure it though? Is there a public site that we can all access for information? Maybe we should talk to Ozweatherman to find a place.

Lemme know, lemme know....

Namaste!

Here's a website to clarify all your time issues: WorldClock

Can I make some suggestions?
As I have got some experiences in 'world wide spread group meditations' ...

For a 'one off' ... a target would be great!
And as I found your idea here really good
there was immediatly a mantra coming by intution this whole afternoon.
Ever heard of the 'Gayatri Mantra'?
It creates very high vibrations ... for example to smooth a process ... it's also connected to the sun and feminine energy, does help on the path to better intution and enligthenment, etc. ... (google for more information)
So when I was thinking about how and what MP3 version of the Mantra I have ... and can bring to you to listen ... I found two versions I like very much and *hmmm* ?coincidently? the name of one of the artists is the same as the current hurricane heading towards the US coast in the next days ...
what a sign?!

So why not do the meditation / prayers via chanting the (feminine = mother earth energy) Gayatri Mantra with the intention to smooth and calm down Hurricane Gustav in it's strength ... to help and save the people in the endangered area?

So here's one sung version of the GAYATRI MANTRA on youtube:

Om
Bhuur Bhuva Suu-vaha
Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Dey-vasya Di-Mahi
Dhiyo-yo Naha Pracho-dayat

Chant it with this strong intention before:

Please calm down the Hurricane & Charge the earth with Peace!
(The maximum benefit of chanting the mantra is said to be obtained by chanting it 108 times)

And if you plan to do group meditation regularly, without a special target like soothing a hurricane - where it makes sense that all tune in synchronized in time, to align all of the energy/vibrations like an arrow ...
It's also OK to do group meditations in a certain time frame ... for example: always in the hours between 11pm and 5am, when the enviroment around you is silent, calm ... sleeping.

Good Luck with this process and Love, Light, Peace & Truth to all!
