Of course you will notice that there is no evidence that this actually happened. No pictures, no ID card (which all U.S. forces carry), no "dog tag", nothing at all. Just the word of a Communist newspaper that this happened.

And why wouldn't an American soldier be in Georgia? The US has been quite open that it is training Georgian troops.

Oh yes, the person that posted this item accuses the American "mercenery" of handling laws. That is what the word he used means.

Hey, what's wrong with being English? They can't be proud because they don't have as many nukes as us or something?

I've read through this entire thread and others regarding the Georgia conflict, and something just wont sit quietly in my mind...

Both the US and Russia have military garrisons in Georgia and both, so it seems, are using local forces to do their 'dirty work' on their behalf...war-by-proxy...the Russians are arming and enabling one side, whilst the US are equipping and enabling their own 'side'...

What may have happened (my speculation here) is that the Russian forces captured a US military 'militia-cell-commander' acting (on-paper) as an invited instructor for Georgian forces, but acting in the field as a C.O.

If that's the case, then the Russians have every right to torture him for information using the same methods and legal circumvention of international law and Geneva convention as the US-led coalition have done so to their opposition in Iraq/Afghanistan/etc

Yes I am proud to be an Englishman. You seem to forget you ignorant young whelp that England (UK) has been in existance for a damm sight longer than the United States. You Sir, have no history, no class and no bottom. There is no nationality on earth greater than being British.

Power has nothing to do with being proud. It is a historical fact that the British Empire was the greatest empire in the entire worlds history and it is very unlikely that the world will see an empire as great again.

If the UK had the manpower and the money the US currently has, the US would still be one of our Colonies.

BTW: Russia is no longer Communist ...... keep up with the times, please.

Political expediency and the grab for oil resources is really what all of these actions are about. Shaakashevili is told to bomb S.O. in order to tie up the Russians to prevent them from reinforcing Iran while the USA send two more major Carrier battle groups to the Persian Gulf. McCain gets monies from Georgia for his campaign as part of the deal, do you think McCain has the brains to understand the game being run? Russia is more than well prepared for a fight with the USA, as is China, of course all China has to do is stop shipping uniforms, rations, weapons and ammunition to the USA and then the USA Military has enough stockpiles to last ... what ... two weeks?
