I do not believe in "shiny" Its merely a product of a misunderstood refrecturum, your eyes deceive you there actually is no such thing. NIN must of been on some strong # for them to convey the things they convey in song. Like sheep given a window into the slaughter pens and trying to digest what it is they thought they saw. How does the song "only" go? "Things are not as pretty on the inside" Like the inerguts and bio extremities of a human body or when you open up the hood of your car. The shiny shells over the inner workings are always more pretty and then the inner complexities.
