Ok now I LOVE The Smiths - I have a lot of their music but I don't have that one. Thank you. But it was so sad.

So I have to put up ones that have more of an upbeat tempo even though the lyrics aren't exactly happy.

Another part of why I'm OBNOXIOUS

I had a rap phase in the 90's .... Boss is actually a chick who has a bachelors degree and said she could do an album too. She had Easy E on it too before he died. Her album is censored fav song "I don't give a *uck"
Only 2 videos on youtube. And they are slightly changed from album songs.

Queen Latifah actually responded to one song (Mai Sista izza Biotch) or was it (Recipe of a Hoe) with the song U.N.I.T.Y. (3rd verse)

Some men can't handle STRONG women. Physically or mentally OH WELL they miss out.

I'm glad you like The Smiths. I've been wanting to post this song before but I don't fully understand the meaning behind it. I love the lyrics anyway so here It goes:

ok I gotta say that I can only listen to it once. My interpretation would be skewed because I worked with abused children. It only takes 15 min to wreck a child. Steal their innocence. A lot of children are lured by someone they care for. A parent or relative a close relationship where the child ends up confused by what happened yet still cares for the adult. The feelings get all jumbled because they love the person but can't understand why they get abused.

ok it may reflect something that happened to Morrisey - it would be interesting to ask him.
I have this thread .... if you are interested in posting on it.

And ironically there are a number of "famous" people here on ATS......just think about it ...it's perfect that it's all anonymous.

Thanks for taking the time to post your interpretation. I thought It might have something to do with that but a lot of their songs can be interpreted in different ways.

Another song that I love:

I love that song....mostly because I love the rhythm and harmonizing.
What I get from that song...sarcasm ...pain from being misunderstood ....misinterpreted ...self inflicting ....lack of confidence.

But again I am extremely sensitive to music. And this is only MyHumbleOpinion.

here

The Smiths - ASK

I LOVE this one ...very straight forward...positive...upbeat

I saw that and thought of my favorite Peter Gabriel song .... Solsbury Hill
I just love the beat and flow ...great lyrics.

Lyrics:

Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night

He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing stretching every nerve
I had to listen had no choice

I did not believe the information
Just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom, boom
"Son," he said, "Grab your things, I've come to take you home."

To keeping silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut
Turning water into wine
Open doors would soon be shut

So I went from day to day
Tho' my life was in a rut
'Till I thought of what I'd say
Which connection I should cut

I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey," he said, "grab your things, I've come to take you home."
Yeah back home

When illusion spin her net
I'm never where I want to be
And liberty she pirouette
When I think that I am free

Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes, but still can see
No one taught them etiquette
I will show another me

Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey," I said, "You can keep my things, they've come to take me home.
