Barrack Obama speaks of hope, the future, unity, a common purpose, raising up every man.

Sure, he may talk about those things from time to time, but Obama's actual actions and true political beliefs suggest his presidency would bring about the polar opposite. For a guy who uses the word "hope" in every other sentence, Barrack Obama seems to have a really dire picture of America. From what I can tell, he believes this is a country that is in a terrible position all around, guilty of horrible and shameful acts against its citizens, the rest of the world and even the planet itself. And his view of the American citizens' abilities is so low that his only solution is more power to the government and less freedom for the people.

As far as unity or a common purpose and all of that rhetoric, just look at his (short, but decisive) record as a senator. Obama is by far the most partisan member of the Senate and he's never crossed the aisle to work with Republicans on any substantial issues. He doesn't want to compromise and work together toward a fair result (as McCain does frequently, often to my disgust), Obama wants to force his opponents to go along with his policy without giving up anything in return.

And this idea of "raising up every man" is even more absurd. First of all, it suggests that most Americans are in a lowly position in need of outside assistance (which the elitist Obama truly believes), but it buys into the idea that it is the government's responsibility to run our day-to-day lives. Sorry, I'll take freedom and opportunity along with the existence of risk and the need for hard work over huge government, socialism and the sacrifice of individuality so that everyone can be equally miserable.

I know Obama makes you feel good. But do us all a favor and just buy a kitten. Same result. And it will save the country a lot of hassle when you fall out of love with him and want to impeach him in a year or two.

I would much rather die than vote for anyone associated with Rockefeller, ZBIG, and their cronies.

That in itself is good reason to not vote for Obama...

“Barrack Obama speaks of hope, the future, unity, a common purpose, raising up every man.”

What exact hope does Barrack Obama offer? What future change does he offer? He wants to continue funding the War in Iraq.
Compare him to a man like Ron Paul, a man who opposes the War in Iraq, opposes nation building. He also stands to abolish the IRS, cutting down the size of Governments, and mainly, following what the Constitution tells us! Ron Paul’s beliefs are very simply, and yet logic. His policies are based on the rules and laws of which America was made with.

To not be one sided, Barrack may also do some good to U.S. but definitely not what Ron Paul could potentially do. However, I did not educate myself on much of Obama’s political beliefs, I only compared some of them to Ron Paul’s.

I’m not trying to be ignorant here by no means, I apologise if it looks that way. But, it seems people need to wake up.

PS. First post here, hey everyone!

welcome to ATS

you will find that a lot of people on here who support Obama would vote for Ron Paul but currently he's not an option.

I love how you guys speak of hope and change. I do not see how we are changing anything by voting for OmygodObama (Owe this one to Quin and Rose). We have had racism as a scurge in this country for far to long. As a younge white man I do not see any difference between what this man believes and what you all say you hate. You hate the christian right but he sits in a church for 20 years and listens to that filth and does not have the courage to get up and walk out or speak out. I think courage is standing up when you know something is wrong unless he does not find racism wrong. This country is divide becasue of class politics, racial politics and special interest politics. He will keep everything just the way it is and not change a thing. I would have voted for Barack before I heard about his true feelings. I hope this country has finally moved past judging a man by the color of his skin and remeber it is just as racist to like someone based on thier skin color as it is to hate them. Take a look at the man and you will change your mind.

Barack Obama is an Al Qaeda operative. Most black americans will vote for him because he is black. MLK is rolling in his grave at this betrayal. He told you he had a dream that a man would be judged by the content of his character, not by the color of his skin and here you go and decide to vote for a guy because he is black.

Barack Obama is a liar. He is not an African American, to the extent that he is American is a European American. The man is a thief and an imposter. He is usurping the heritage and traditions of real black americans. A muslim cultural trait. He's doing to 35 million people what he does to his wife in bed. Which of his ancestors in this country were enslaved and picked cotton in the south? Not One!!

People are voting for Obama because they are under a spell!!

Just in case all of you forgot, even if Ron Paul is supposedly off the table, what would happen if he were to be written in instead of voting for the shmucks that are left right now?.
Obama isn't going to do anything against the systems and establishment that allowed him to get where he is now,why would he change things to make it better for us down here when it would wreck his party up there?.
Obama is a liar just like the rest,Ron Paul only promised to try to bring back the constitution, and a few other things that effect everyone in this country,he promised to fix it,not change it.
Change is good, but the collectivist BS change Obama is talking about is not what we need here,we need to go back to the basics, nothing ever really changes.

Every election year.

Every single one.

The same people come out and say "if you support Candidate A, you're drinking the kool-aid"

Please
Please
Please
Please drop that ignorant statement.

The idea of an election is to support a candidate with whom you agree with.

you do not have to support someone 100% in order to admire them and agree with them.

My support of Obama comes from his voting record.
Not what i see in the news.

I did not support barack obama before my ATS membership was created, despite what a few around here will tell you.

A lot of us support Obama because we like what he's offering.

Will he deliver?

Not 100%, im sure of it. But even if he delivers 87.29392% of what he's talking about - its certainly more and better for us all, than having John McCain in office.

Are there other candidates? Sure. You can write-in whoever you want.

But i don't want to write in.

Writing in a candidate is an optin - just not one for me. So whats wrong with that/

Are you saying if i don't support your racist, bigoted, homophobic candidate (mccain) that im drinking the kool-aid?

personally - if you don't own a big business, or pump oil yourself, i don't see how a normal person could ever vote for someone the likes of mccain

i learned my less by voting for bush in 2000

won't ever do it again. I used to think big business was the answer to this countries problems.

Then i realized.

A person who owns big business is never satisfied with what they have. They always want more.

The only way to get more is to screw over a few more people.

Big businesses greed has put us where we are today in a crap economy.

Period.

Thats why im voting for Obama.

He represents change, and im sorry, but i really don't care if you can show me he flip flopped a few times.

If you choose not to vote for someone on the grounds of imperfection - then perhaps politics isnt something you should invest time into.

If there was another election today Obama would win again because of the lack of candidates or population of the anti-Obama crowd which is shrinking.
