COP Chopper chasing Ufo Footage!....UK

Found this really interesting clip on Youtube, where a Cop chopper is chasing a Ufo in the Uk? What do you guys think of this?!

Stunned police gave chase to a UFO after it attacked their helicopter near a military base The mystery aircraft zoomed straight at the chopper as the three-man cop crew prepared to land.

The incident apparently happened in the early morning of June 8 near Cardiff as the chopper was waiting to land at the St. Athan RAF base
"The pilot banked sharply to avoid being hit, then launched into a high-speed pursuit," the Sun said "But he was forced to give up the chase as the helicopter's fuel ran low — and the UFO escaped.".

Lanters or a flare, what else could it be? That seems to be the excuse for them all does it not. Always making it a joke always debunking it before actually looking into it.

It's amazing how many Japanese lanterns are being launched these days.

I think aliens just like to visit when other events are taking place nearby that can cause confusion.

Where do I get a 200MPH Japanese lantern?

Is it just me, or does that light look like the top of a tower? It appears as if the helicopter is zoomed in on the tower and it's circling around the tower so the background lights are moving behind it - giving the illusion that the light is moving.

That's what it looks like to me.

Thats some pretty awesome footage! No way that thing is a floating lantern, look at its speed of movement in relation to the scenery in the background. And in response to the post above, I highly doubt that a police chopper is going to chase a stationary object like a tower light for long enough that they have to call off the chase due to lack of fuel. That is certainly an unidentfied flying object with some decent footage! The only conventional explanation I can think of is that it is some sort of UAV, but really if it was, why is it flying so low? Maybe the government has some new advanced UAV tech but even then, why make it so obvious by flying it over such a populated area all lit up. But then if it was of a really advanced nature, surely it could have out manuevered the helicopter in seconds. Maybe it was teasing them? High stangeness all over the shop!

Yes one could see that the speed is awsome due to the facts that he is trying to keep up with the Ufo on the camera!

This seems strange is this the same sighting where they denied everything, even footage, is the following link is a thread from a few weeks ago with the official statement from South Wales Police.

Seems odd that they would first deny it then actually release the footage, take a look, I maybe confusing different events but I don't think so.

I thought this was posted before,and was deemed to not be the footage to the 08 wales case,but one a few years earlier?

It would be awesome to get hold of all the footage. It look like it was cut at the end of the story just when the footage seemed to get interesting and the object seems more like a cylinder than just a blob of light. Anyone sees or finds the full footage please let us know.

My thoughts after looking at the footage again a couple of times.

1. Maybe an advanced UAV from some other nation testing the UK air defense system by coming in low. Maybe explains why lit up, the owners of it wanted to see how long before it was spotted and how the UK (and media possibly) would deal with it.

2. Maybe an advanced black ops or anti-terror UAV doing some covert arial survaillance and got accidently spotted by the cops. This doesn't really explain why it would be so obviously lit up as surely a covert UAV would not have lights on it? Maybe at that altitude it was required to be lit up so planes or helicopters wouldn't accidently run into it. Perhaps from the ground it would just look like those odd stars people report seeing that sit there and then blink out or move across the sky. Looking like a star at night could actually be a great disgiuse for a covert UAV.

Also, any comment on this from some of ATS's UFO and photography specialists? Keen to hear some thoughts from the UFO professionals here.

'Unusual' ... where incident took place

All three crew described the object as "flying saucer-shaped" and circled by flashing lights. They reported it to senior officers, who passed on the report to Britain's UFO investigators.

The incident happened as the helicopter was returning to the MoD's St Athan base near Cardiff, where it is stationed.


The chopper was at 500ft and waiting to land when the crew saw the UFO speeding towards them from below.


A source said: "It closed in at great speed, aiming straight at the helicopter.

"The chopper had to swerve sharply to avoid being hit. The guys said if they'd stayed where they were, they'd be dead -- it would've been a direct hit.

"They are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw.

"These guys are hardened professionals and know people will take the mickey, but they are certain they saw a UFO."

The source added: "After the near-collision they decided to follow it to find out what the hell it was. They belted across the Bristol Channel in pursuit, but it was too quick. They got to the North Devon coast and had to turn back because they were running low on fuel."

The chopper is crammed with hi-tech cameras and surveillance gear, but the UFO somehow avoided being caught on film.

Strangely, the crew could not see the craft with night-vision goggles -- but all said it was "clearly visible" to the naked eye on the night of June 7.

South Wales Police said last night: "We can confirm the Air Support Unit sighted an unusual aircraft. This was reported to the relevant authorities for their investigation."

The MoD, which usually investigates UFO sightings, said: "We've heard nothing about this. But it is certainly not advisable for police helicopters to go chasing what they think are UFOs."

You are absolutely correct. The Fox footage is of an incident that was filmed from a Sussex Police helicopter over Brighton some 10 to 12 years ago. You can see the pier at the end of the footage! It was shown on a LWT programe which was one of those 'fly on the wall' cheapo Police shows. It went out on a Friday night. This really is sloppy journalisim.

I'm having my doubts about this one. The Sky Lanterns mentioned look an awful lot like what is in the video and what this UK company makes:

It looks like the chopper is just circling around it. So whatever this footage is it doesn't look like a UFO to me any longer. It even has a similar brightness profile and flame-like flickering can be seen in the video.

I am a little dumbstruck with this one! I still think that the Ufo is moving at speed but then still being circuled by the chopper, by the movements whe can see!

But on some stages you can see the chopper hovering still while the ufo is speed pass! I am still looking heavy into this! But whe must not cout out the possibality of a Latern! Great work Enlightenup

Well I never heard any coverage about it on TV unless I just missed it. Which would be unlicky as I check the news alot. And I asume somthing this big owuld get media coverage?

My working hypothesis is that they were just being cops and not paying attention to where they were flying and nearly ran into the lanten. They probably shouted a few expletives over that radio so they had to concoct a UFO story to justify it and not look foolish for almost having crashed goverment property into something they were supposed to be aware was going to be in the sky that night.

Edit: It can't be moving very fast if the chopper can run circles around it, can it?

the video shown in the vid wasnt what happened this summer, the footage is from a police chopper, but its old footage- I saw it several years ago on you tube.

I think it was over Brighton if memory serves.
