I would like to see disclosure happen because it would change humanity's world perspective, for the better. Too many people today walk around with
closed minds. They believe in their own ideology/morality so strongly that any other idea must always and absolutely be wrong. I know this is a vague
statement, and it covers a vast swath of issues that I could not completely cover here, however I can give one good example:
The US ideology of capitalism. Belief in our way of doing things has reached a near-fanatical level in recent years. So much so that its not just
become a reason to threaten and conquer other nations, but its even now started to harm our own people. Here I go...
The war in Iraq wasn't ever because of nuclear weapons. Iraq did have an aged soviet nuclear reactor, but it didn't have enough nuclear material to
build an atom bomb, and it wasn't weapons-grade. Am I the only one that sees it as a coincidence that we are trying to seize part of the middle east,
the most oil-rich region in the world, in an age when China and India are in a full-swing industrial revolution, providing mass-manufactured cars to
their populations? Imagine how scarce oil will be soon, when there are a billion more people driving cars than there were before? (Indias population:
1.13 billion, Chinas population: 1.32 billion) The war is for oil, as any intelligent individual can obviously see, and the sheer arrogance we display
when we can walk in and proclaim these middle-eastern nations "saved" by our superior ideology frightens me - not just the act of the "saving"
itself, because it is wrong, but also the fact that it is a veiled and calculated grab for resources. Even more frightening - We could have spent the
same money on this war to switch to an alternate fuel such as hydrogen, however gas companies would be making profits then, now would they? In the end
our country hasn't advanced morally or ideogically nearly as far as we would want to think. Greed is the driving factor of our society, not helping
human beings, not even our own citizens.
Every other western power is able to hold a free economy and provide socialist services to their own people, so they don't suffer from poverty even
during the occasional economic recession. Canada and Britain have socialized healthcare, France has socialized healthcare and socialized education.
Their societies aren't perfect, however they show that socialized services work well with a capitalist economy. I would even go so far as to say they
are needed to provide balance to what would otherwise be a very brutal economic system. But even the mention of socialism in the US sends our
government and masses screaming at the top of their lungs against the perceived evils of communism... When socialized services have nothing to do with
that. This is because of the mass arrogance of our perceived superiority in our own political ideology. I don't think I will ever see the United
States adopt socialized healthcare during my lifetime, which is sad because very few will be able to afford medicine, let alone emergency surgery or
care if they needed it, during the coming economic recession. Capitalism this brutal is not in the best interests of the people. You should not try to
make money if it causes others to suffer - medicine and healthcare should be free.
Sorry that was so long. My arguements were soley focused on the US, in response to a question that concerns our entire planet, however as a citizen of
the US most of my experiences have been here. In answer to the question of disclosure: I believe it would shift our planet's world view, In a world
where we can't get along with each other, how could we accept aliens? We couldn't. This is why we would all have to re-evaluate our relations with
each other, how we treat each other as individuals and how nations treat each other as different societies and cultures. It would be a step forward,
even if we didn't get along with the extraterrestrials.
