The most interesting fact about the current situation is the following:

Disclosure has not happened, therefore if aliens are visiting this planet they either:

a) don't care about humanity (as a whole) discovering their presence, or
b) don't want humanity (as a whole) to discover their presence.

Either way, it means that it's probably going to be a long time before disclosure happens. There are nearly 7 billion people on this planet, and a great majority of them would be absolutely delighted to use whatever knowledge the aliens can provide them to further their political/religious agendas so that they can continue exploiting and oppressing their fellow human beings.

Well I guess there are 2 option's.......,

1. The Government's come out and say, we are beign visited by life forms from another solar system, and this has been going on for some time and we can not control the fact that they are invading or visiting our airspace.

2. Our intelegence advisors have researched the UFO phenomana and have concluded that there are more logical, and earthbound explanation's that would explain UFO encounters.

Which one of the two conclusion's would keep the status quo of the general public?

I think somewhere in between the 2 option's, Is where your answer will be found.

I think the amount we could learn from them would be monumental. If they have the technology to travel the insane distance between our solar system (assuming they would be from another) and theirs, the technology they have would throw our own 100 years foward. I think that would be amazing.
The way i see it, you can work and aim to achieve seemingly predetermined life paths, or live for something like this.

I want to know what these people want. Are their lives so empty they need something to fill it? Do they think that their own personal problems will be solved? They seem obsessed with disclosure of some sort that it almost clouds their judgement.

Lives empty? Not at all. I actually would take more comfort knowing that I am not alone as an intelligent species in this universe than knowing that humanity is it. I'd rather be a player in a large, colossal universal game than be the universal game.

Problems solved? No, heck no. In fact it would open up a realm of so many more questions and pose new problems to be solved especially among theologians. Again, I think the importance is on expanding the size of one's sphere of understanding.

Some do seem obsessed. I think different people have different ideas of what disclosure will mean to them. For some it will mean the clouds will part and light will shine down on them and they will be enlightened with new understanding, or so they think. For others, it's another great conversation piece at the local pub.

Personally I eagerly await disclosure to answer a few of my own personal theological questions that I've already decided would otherwise have to wait until I ask God after I'm dead. So yeah, I'm psyched about the idea of disclosure.

Recently I found out that my grandmother's sister (claimed to be) abducted by aliens a very long time ago. I have no idea when or anything more to the story except that she was apparently a very popular speaker in Asia. That's it. Her (my) family never believed her - and my family is pretty open - and no one ever talks about it. They all thought she was loony.

Now think about how many alien abductions claims there are out there... sure, some are bound to be BS, but how many more are never EVER talked about. Between the fear of ostracism and alleged gov't threat, it's a wonder anyone comes forward. I can't imagine having to go through life that way. Disclosure would be a HUGE validation for those people, and they deserve it.

On the other hand, our governments are more than likely to be in control of any such disclosure and using it for their best leverage. Even if we ARE NOT in contact with any aliens, we have obviously developed the technology to fake it. Expect any disclosure scenario to go side-by-side with a major shake-up in global politics. In other words, if you're not looking forward to the New World Order, you might want to be patient about disclosure.

All I want is people to stop denying the fact that they exist that is all I ask for

I'm not a strong believer in extra-terrestrials, I mean it's possible we've been visited but I haven't seen much proof to back that up.

Still, I want disclosure if there really is something to disclose because it means there is a whole lot more going on in the universe than just what we're caught up with on our small planet.

Why wouldn't you want it?

The most important reason was said by Commander X: it would force the secrecy of certain powerful organizations that operate above our democracy and their shadow science in transparency under the control of congress answerable to the constituents.

Sadly, I disagree. I have to think those people are pulling the strings on this one, or at the very least will have first warning and have a plan in place to use it to their highest advantage. They MAY use disclosure to become more visible, but most likely the ones who will be on the hot seat will be a terrified public. Our asleep brethren WILL NOT wake up just from disclosure; they will be waving the flags and eating up more shocking propaganda while the history of pre-disclosure alien communication is swept under the rug, never to become official. They will never be held answerable for what they have done unless there is an actual "judgement day" held by a trustworthy God or jury of uncorrupted higher beings.

I would like to see disclosure happen because it would change humanity's world perspective, for the better. Too many people today walk around with closed minds. They believe in their own ideology/morality so strongly that any other idea must always and absolutely be wrong. I know this is a vague statement, and it covers a vast swath of issues that I could not completely cover here, however I can give one good example:

The US ideology of capitalism. Belief in our way of doing things has reached a near-fanatical level in recent years. So much so that its not just become a reason to threaten and conquer other nations, but its even now started to harm our own people. Here I go...

The war in Iraq wasn't ever because of nuclear weapons. Iraq did have an aged soviet nuclear reactor, but it didn't have enough nuclear material to build an atom bomb, and it wasn't weapons-grade. Am I the only one that sees it as a coincidence that we are trying to seize part of the middle east, the most oil-rich region in the world, in an age when China and India are in a full-swing industrial revolution, providing mass-manufactured cars to their populations? Imagine how scarce oil will be soon, when there are a billion more people driving cars than there were before? (Indias population: 1.13 billion, Chinas population: 1.32 billion) The war is for oil, as any intelligent individual can obviously see, and the sheer arrogance we display when we can walk in and proclaim these middle-eastern nations "saved" by our superior ideology frightens me - not just the act of the "saving" itself, because it is wrong, but also the fact that it is a veiled and calculated grab for resources. Even more frightening - We could have spent the same money on this war to switch to an alternate fuel such as hydrogen, however gas companies would be making profits then, now would they? In the end our country hasn't advanced morally or ideogically nearly as far as we would want to think. Greed is the driving factor of our society, not helping human beings, not even our own citizens.

Every other western power is able to hold a free economy and provide socialist services to their own people, so they don't suffer from poverty even during the occasional economic recession. Canada and Britain have socialized healthcare, France has socialized healthcare and socialized education. Their societies aren't perfect, however they show that socialized services work well with a capitalist economy. I would even go so far as to say they are needed to provide balance to what would otherwise be a very brutal economic system. But even the mention of socialism in the US sends our government and masses screaming at the top of their lungs against the perceived evils of communism... When socialized services have nothing to do with that. This is because of the mass arrogance of our perceived superiority in our own political ideology. I don't think I will ever see the United States adopt socialized healthcare during my lifetime, which is sad because very few will be able to afford medicine, let alone emergency surgery or care if they needed it, during the coming economic recession. Capitalism this brutal is not in the best interests of the people. You should not try to make money if it causes others to suffer - medicine and healthcare should be free.

Sorry that was so long. My arguements were soley focused on the US, in response to a question that concerns our entire planet, however as a citizen of the US most of my experiences have been here. In answer to the question of disclosure: I believe it would shift our planet's world view, In a world where we can't get along with each other, how could we accept aliens? We couldn't. This is why we would all have to re-evaluate our relations with each other, how we treat each other as individuals and how nations treat each other as different societies and cultures. It would be a step forward, even if we didn't get along with the extraterrestrials.

aliens hold the secret to zero point energy. that is an energy source that creates no pollution and is completely renewable. this secret would stop the oil crisis and save our environment
