Cant believe I am about to say this (due to my skepticism on some topics), but I am starting to think that the UFO sighting up here in the top end were not misidentified miltary craft. I found a few more stories in the NT news going back to May. All reports from witnesses indicate that the objects had orange or red lights on them and a few happened in the areas where the miltary hadnt been flying. Even the latest one at Marlinja happened well south of Katherine, which is the other town in which the Pitch Black exercies took place.

Now I am not saying that these were UFO's from other planets or with aliens etc. I do live in the Territory, I work about 500 metres from where miltary aircraft were taking off (during pitch black), and my proffesion requires me to look at the sky every half hour to observe cloud's and weather phenomenen for incoming aircraft to Darwin airport (so if you're delayed by bad weather as you fly into Darwin its my fault
). Unfortunantly despite everything I saw I missed out on anything amiss, even though I worked a couple of the days in question.

All those people that are complaining about no pictures or video have to understand that the Northern Territory is almost a completely different world, even to the Southern Australian cities. Not everyone runs to take a picture or in some cases has access to video or photography equipment. The people up here have nothing to gain in lying about encounters and the population is largely indigenous, remote and sparesly populated.

Anyway here are the other stories over the last couple of months along with the story that was originally posted here, all from the NT news

Something is going on in our skies, my question is... why are there different shaped craft coming and going?

There are triangles, cylindrical shaped, cigar, saucer... why so many different variation?

Balls of light....

The ones that flash similar to our planes... are they trying to camouflage themselves to look like our own aircraft whilst cruising our skies late at night?

Or are they trying to make themselves known?

So many questions.

Well who knows if all the sightings are genuine? They may just be mistaken identity, atmopsheric phenomonen or people just feeding off the paranoia of others.

Hard to say with the ones up here.....not enough evidence and too much speculation

Balls of light....

Well the triangle are ours... no reverse engineering give our boys some credit

Cylindrical and cigar are more or less the same shape.. but as an example take a lens shape (two lens back to back) if you look at it from the side you see a lens shape if you are scientifically minded, while a sports jock would say football shaped....

If you turn it on an angle, you get oblong oval or 'cigar shape' If you are looking at it from below you get a circle

Now add a force field and you get fuzziness by day glowing by night

The spheres and amoeba like changing ones are CRITTERS
life forms that exit on the edge of the visible spectrum and account for 80% of UFO sightings and many ghost sitings in my opinion
They 'feed' off of plasma and NASA knows about them and records them...

The ones that are weird shapes and clear images like the Drones are 99.999% fake

I think Ziggystar made a thread on ID I think I will pop in and give him some tips

Hope that helps on shapes

Lol, awwww so Im not allowed to post the usual fuzzy looking ones, or the ones where string is obviously attached to two plates glued together?

Well I got called in to cover someones night shift tonight so will keep my eyes peeled. If I see anything I doubt it would be miltary aircraft. There are noise laws to keep them out of the air after 8:00pm here

My 18yr neice asked me the other day if I thought that the government had doctored airplanes to look like ufos?
She heard somewhere that the top brass where first going to scare us with global warming then it would be terrorism and finally UFO invasion.

Hi Ozweatherman, I live in the territory too, but not Darwin. Gave you a star for your research, why isn't more media picking this up? Why are some of our "UFO" sites not up to date about it all here in Oz. There is definitely something weird going on.

Pitch Black covers a fairly large area actually, some of the "enemy" aircraft fly out of Townsville, so they cover a wide range.

They actually will approacht the NT from different directions, in order to achieve surprise in the exercise of course as it is no use knowing they always come from the east or wherever.

I thought the Marlinja UFO's might have been "Stealth" Choppers. Except that
a) They really would get kicked hard for that, there were too many.
b) The other sightings that have occurred.

Keep looking up, I am certainly doing the same.

Lol, well i guess there isnt enough miltary exercises in your area. The NT is a prime place for sightings due to the fact of the remote locality and also there are less light sources as we are sparesly populated.

Im not saying that the sightings are UFO's from another planet but IMO, if they were Pitch Black wouldve been an interesting exercise to observe. I mean there were 15 countries with some of the best pilots and fighter technology in the world, who wouldnt want a peek at that

Oh no by all means the fuzzy ones are okay... since the field around them would make them fuzzy
but no not the ones on strings...

Queensland invaded by UFOs

By Anooska Tucker-Evans

October 21, 2007 01:00am

* More than 100 of nation's 120 sightings in Qld
* Most white balls that make right-hand turns
* People wary of reporting for fear of ridicule

QUEENSLANDERS are leading reporters of unidentified flying objects, with more than 100 of the 128 recorded official sightings around Australia in the past two years coming from the Sunshine State.

And according to a Queensland UFO specialist, while many sightings were ruled out as stars, planets, meteors and planes, a "significant number" remained unexplained.

UFO Research Queensland's Lee Paqui said the state's hotspots for sightings included the Glass House Mountains, Toowoomba, Warwick, Ipswich and the far north.

"The most common sightings are the orange balls, and white balls that look like stars but move and display very erratic behaviour, like they'll make right-hand turns," she said.

Ms Paqui said many people were still wary of reporting their sightings for fear of public humiliation.

The Queensland research centre began operating in 1956 and was originally called the Queensland Flying Saucer Bureau.

It receives 1000 hits each day on its website www.uforq.asn.au and has sightings dating back to 1939.

Believ me if its a weather balloon I will be the first person to be able to spot it, I do after all launch 2 every shift. I think that every other option like Venus, aircraft, weather balloon etc, should be ruled out before jumping to the UFO conclusion. The problem with www.uforq.asn.au and some other similar organisations is that they far to often jump to the whole alien conlcusion without proper research.

Sort of like those UFO hunter guys on that show..... they did nothing fot the credibility of the subject

AHH so YOUR to blame
I wonder how many of those have caused reports? You guys need to paint on the side "NOT A UFO" Do you ever hang lights on them?

I can just picture all these weathermen all over the world launch fleets of ballons...

As to Venus... that one is easy... simply look at the date and the direction of view... Venus tends to stay put in one spot, not move around the sky and make right angle turns..

Asking the Military if they have any secret operations going on... ya right... they will surely tell you the truth

True enough... just look at how quickly this NT thing went through the ranks... everyone wants to have the latest news... so report first question later... and who ever reads the retractions on page 6? Its the headlines that count... Today the attention span of people is about 30 seconds

But also all the Major Australian UFO groups have a 'plant' in them, according to my contacts
You won't EVER get any real data that way

Sort of like those UFO hunter guys on that show..... they did nothing fot the credibility of the subject

Seriously let's say you are the government... and you wanted to keep the lid on... yet the stuff is all around you and the internet is everywhere...

Can you think of a better way than to hire a few good 'hoaxers' to keep the confusion going? And with every punk kid having photoshop and a youtube account trying to out do each other...

Well that is why I gave up following every UFO report... I would much rather have a good old fashioned eye witness account like this one... that way I can compare it to my notes and draw my own conclusions

We do have lights on the ones at night so we can see them.....easier to lock onto them with the radar. We had a bloke shooting them down a while back, couldnt understand why 7 went missing in the exact same area lol. Also the times we launch are pretty set, so that should be taken inot account

The ones that happened up here are miles away from our stations. We dont have a balloon station at Katherine and Tennant Creek which is closer to Marlinja, doesnt have 24 hour coverage which means there wouldve been no balloons in the air at the time of the sighting

So interesting revelations about Australia... seems you guys are also gun happy and still use weather balloons instead of them new fangled gadgets of the modern world

I wonder if he will try to sell it on Ebay as pieces of Roswell crash material

Did you look at that first video from Qld? Ever see a weather balloon do that?
