The problem is not redistribution as a principle, which can have positive aplication if everyone does their homework and is above board, the problem is with execution and a world economic atmosphere shrouded in secrecy, deception and downright lies. Capping wealth to say a billion at the individual or even family level would hurt nobody and would be beneficial for society as a whole, as it would allow more democratic processes. This could be done with a redistribution component if the people so decided at the group mind level. Redistribution can leave the rich, well, rich, as the sheer size of today's concentrated fortunes is mind boggling. It is impossible for one person to even hold let's say 10 trillion in assets, as the sheer physical disparity is too great. These people are powerbrokers, as their physical wealth is not used for direct personal gratification but for other more megalomaniacal and even sociopathic goals. People have been conditioned in the west against redistribution, but the reality of democratic redistribution of wealth is it would almost unfailably work in their great favour. Remember that less than 1% of the population of the world is reported to own 80% of the wealth, which is a totally unsatisfactory way to organise human society. Fortunes like Bill Gates' that were built by ripping off wage-earners -- he never would have gotten so rich unless he over-charged for computers. There's only a couple hundred dollars in each one. The parts for the orig mac were $38. Everyone who lays a hand on those computers and parts (although Gates is a software guy.... duh) makes a living; they don't do it for free. So, everyone gets paid, and the price for the PC (or software) goes up. Figure it out. Besides.... look at all the millionaires Gates made. Why? because those people were educated and they worked hard. Slaves? In America???? Please utilize one of the freedoms America provides and move to Cuba for two or three years. Then come back and we'll talk about wages and such. Rob the rich to feed the poor, until there are no rich no more. The government that robs Peter to pay Paul (Democrats) will always have the support of Paul. Socialism is what got America INTO this mess.

Actually, the MMPI psychological inventory used to match the personality traits of indivual high school graduates with the traits of those in each profession and trade PROVE that it IS NOT INSTINCT (which is the culprit), IT IS PERSONALITY TRAITS, generally, we're born with. That's why cops seem danger-seeking because that's one of their traits. There are hundreds of traits: dominating vs submissive; creative vs boring; nit-picking vs big-picture oriented, and so it. It's really fascinating you and you check it out. Also, it led me to the conclusion that all agressive people should be put together on an island to enjoy each others agression, and all peaceful people should be together in a country as well (of course, armed with modern electronic weapons that prevent nukes being fired and incapacitate aggressors, for example.) I do agree, however, that we need to get rid of the Fed. The constitution called for Congress to handle the printing of money. However, since their are so many socialists in congress now, I don't know which would be worse.
