And also along those lines, have you ever read That Hideous Strength by CS Lewis? Egads, after reading that, the term 'NICE' has so many negative connotations it's not even funny. That book was a chore to wade through; certainly thought-provoking though.

I tried that book once. I almost never give up on a book altogether, but I just couldn't read it.

How could someone who wrote some of the most readable books in the English langage, and even on occasion made theology fun* (the Screwtape Letters) write such a difficult book?

* okay, theology is usually fun. But more fun than usual

Yeah I read the two previous books and was shocked when I got to that one. Much different. I think Lewis was venting big time when he wrote it, and deliberately buried it in book three of a trilogy. Mind control, psychotronic torture, media manipulation, covert elite societies -- I think he would have liked ATS.
