Obama; Put Up or Shut Up!

Now this is taking action where action is needed....

A conservative group is calling into question Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's commitment to the poor and needy after discovering he gave less than 1 percent of his income to charity.

"Sadly, Senator Obama now falls into that category of politicians not 'practicing what they preach.' By giving less than 1% of his income to charitable causes, he has shown a profound lack of compassion for the poor and needy," Mahoney said.

That is ridiculous to the extreme...... Made more so by his constant proclamations over the poor....

I care, so I give and a lot more than 1%... Obama's true colors are showing..

"Don't talk the talk if you can't walk the walk"
"Put up or SHUT up"

Democrats.. Some of the richest politicians and openly concerned about the poor in America. Yet they give so little of their own fortune, choosing instead to give mine...

It is apparently easier to raise taxes and give my money away, then to simply give their own money away... SHEESH

Yes. He didnt' give in higher numbers until he started his run for president.

OK, Mr. Obama, we've looked, and the more we look, me anyway, the less I like. It's all very good and wonderful to give good speeches, but when you get down to where the rubber meets the road, what I'm seeing looks less and less palitable.

Never thought I'd see the day, when Hillary looks better than an opponent. John McCain in a walk, at this rate...

Less than one percent? I probably make less than ten percent of what Obama hauls in, yet I give both time and money when and where I can. He's going to stand up on his "bully pulpit" and dare to lecture me on helping the less fortunate? He's nothing but a hypocrite in sheep's clothing.

Its easy to raise taxes to extreme levels... after all whats an extra couple of thousand dollars to them.

True courage lies with those who stand up for the little guy, and that will always be the right wing, regardless of party affiliation.

1% is pretty damn ridiculous. I suppose he intends to offset that by a 10% tax hike or something ridiculous when hes in power.

Not under compulsion. Not let's see in public who is "better", who "loves" the poor most. This ain't no pissing cash match.

Wow, now this is what would make me do away with the IRS! We have to divulge our giving, can't be done in private. Well, private sort of, until it's released.

The only ones giving away your money right now is Bush and His Administration. They are giving to the Wall Street Bums who cause this mortgage fiasco....or did you fail to read that information last week.

Obama is not yet the President....so all your complaints should be directed at Bushco!

As far as the Obama Family giving to charities, His work within the community and for people who are struggling more than compensates for any low cash contributions.

That was a poor deflection. Bush has nothing to do with Obama not giving $$ to charity until he started to run for POTUS.

His work within the community and for people who are struggling more than compensates for any low cash contributions.

The same slum lord that donated all that money to Obama's campaigns.

Yes, yes, very well put. It has been later in my Life that I have understood why Jesus and in Deuteronomy said that the poor will always be with us.

The pain of the worker or elderly/disabled on a fixed income that doesn't rise, who must have empty gas tank and belly saddens me.

We must, therefore, be charitable; but I keep thinking that the $100 will not last, and they know it, too. Perhaps to the worker, to the person seeing their income run out, words of hope offer something to look forward to, for a better future. In this case, words and money might offer equal succor.
