I can see the mistake that would be made, but then I think the next step would be to check the computers and any storage devices of these guys to see what their intentions were. If they were guilty of being after child porn then it is probable that they got some stuff stored somewhere

And if they're innocent... they only have to live the rest of their life with the stigma of being plastered all over the 6 o'clock news for being the prime suspect in a kiddie porn raid, and I guarantee that any exoneration wouldn't recieve the same sensational coverage.

I guess he/she can always hope that the story didn't go national. At least then he/she might have a chance of starting his/her life over again in a new state.

I know you weren't asking me, but i'll chirp in anyways

It's less about what we are afraid of them finding and more that we don't want fullly armed FBI raids interrupting our ATS sessions

And to that other bloke....I am not your countryman and that comment was uncalled for so

Who me?

If so, did not mean to offend, but I take my rights very seriously, especially when most have already gone the way of the Do-Do.

Exactly! What he said!

Right on, well articulated there Mage. I hope all the posters "on the other side" of the fence understand the severity now. Too risky of an operations indeed. I couldn't have worded it better myself. And i'm good with words.

It was This post. It was pretty immature and had nothing to do with the topic at hand, and regardless of the disagreements we seem to have with each other, I don't think anyone's done anything to demonstrate that they were paid to sell anyone out...

I'm sure i'd enjoy reading it!

I don't mind telling the story, but don't want to make a real spectacle until I get the charges cleared. Suffice to say though, that despite the neighbors watching and my own shield pinned to the uniform on the coat rack, I got jacked up by two locals. Kicked in the head while I was face down on my own front porch, zapped ten times in the back and on the back of the legs, the whole bit. All because I cracked on their department when they threatened me. Not long after, one of them wiped out the town's new cruiser at 80mph without lights on, broadside into a Mom and kids in a minivan.

They had been in my neighborhood investigating a broken window.

A bit exaggerated perhaps, but I think "JoeTheThird" may have been trying to point out how easily the other member was willing to give up everyone's rights.

Speaking of which, I wonder how something like this would flt down under.

Not sure how you infered that from his post, but I think you might have been out of line there..

He agrees with us that child porn is horrible. He is just not seeing the severity of how this method is infringing on our (the non-child abusers rights)
I do not believe that he isn't seeing it, and I mean exactly what I said, and I mean it quite seriously.

Okay fine, but can you elaborate at least?

I didn't infer this myself, so i'm not seeing how you drew the conclusion he was "selling out his fellow countrymen". What am I missing here? Did I miss a key post?

Holy shnikies! That sounds like it's going to be quite a story when you can tell us the rest of the details! Nuts. Man, I really need to actively look for some heart-warming stories about police officers or something cuz I am losing faith in them, to say the least...

*if you can answer these:

What kind of device did they use to zap you? projecting tasers, stun baton? What did one zap do to your body?

Did the mom and the kids in that van live?

I guess hiring a hit man to destroy someone you hate will become passe as you can instead hire a hacker to plant illegal porn on their computer over a period of time and then hit a few sting links and bam watch their life go up in flames!

Hey & if you get caught hacking them a least you wont get charged with murder - unless the cops accidentally kill them or one of their kids when their breaking down the door at 3AM. Think of all the dirty deeds that can be done, oh, evil men must be dancing around the fire while playing "These boots are gonna walk all over you" like they did at WACO.

I don't know if there's allot of FBI shills here posting the SOS to make this thread difficult to get through or just a few too many sheeple hanging out at ATS. Absolutely incredible.

Agreed there is much better ways to do this, but if they can get away with this why not it certainly takes less hard detective work as all you have to do is build a $200 website on a $1000 computer, (of course they charged us a couple mill) spam a few social nets and break down doors arrest people and process hard drives.

I thought the FBI cleaned up its act since the baby killer Lon Horiuchi, but I guess they have some new lazy slime balls fresh outta puter skool looking for the quick promotion and not giving a damn for our civil rights again.

The OP link said that they were posting web links, but I'm wondering whether or not these were a wide net looking for takers or they had specific known targets? It appears this is about a wide net, and makes this completely wrong.

Had they had specific targets they could have made a unique link for each target and then even if the users used a public computer or was war driving with an anon system they could still identify that individual a little more accurately than using the IP method.

Link clickers & dope smokers are the latest terrorist. What's next?

FU** THE FBI!
WHAT IF SOMEONE HACKS YOUR COMPUTER AND BRINGS UP ALL THE KIDDY PORN #, AND CLICKS ON ALL THE LINKS... THEN WHAT? "HEY IT WASN'T ME SOMEONE HACKED ME AND WANTED TO FU** WITH ME" YEAH RIGHT AS IF THEY WOULD BELIEVE THAT. I SAY ITS ENTRAPMENT AND VIOLATION OF THE 5th AMENDMENT, BUT HEY WE ARE JUST ORDINARY CITIZENS WHO'S GOING TO LISTEN TO US.

Is it actually illegal to click on a link, any link regardless of what it says?

If not then how can they prosecute someone if that link contained nothing but garbage?

I'm not defending someone who clicks on a link that says 'child porn', or whatever, but they are making clicking the link the crime, not what was download which was nothing but garbage.

Isn't it illegal to tempt people to commit crime? Even if they don't need tempting?

HAHA GOOD PHILOSOPHY. IM PRETTY SURE THAT IF SOMEONE ACCADENTLY CLICKED THE LINK AND THEY HAD NO INCRIMINATING EVIDENCE ON THERE COMP, THEN THE FEDS COULDN'T DO #!

For all the people who are saying "Well if someone hacks their computer and frames them then the FBI will clear them of charges". This idea fails on two points.

1. It would be exceptionally hard to prove they were hacked and heres why. Firstly if i say used a trojan to control someones computer whilst they were away from their keyboard, i could download all of this stuff ont their drive and hide it somewhere they wouldn't look. Many trojans come with a self delete feature, this means you have absolutey no trace of the trojan being there! Some advanced trojans i have seen even use a secure delete system so you can't recover them.

If they had a wireless router and it wasn't secured then i could sit outside their house and use their internet connection, all trails would lead to them, proving otherwise would be rediculously hard.

2. Even if they prove innocence there will be many people who do not find out that person is cleared, this will lead to the innocent person being hated in their local community. Can you imagine being accused of this crime? Can you imagine walking down the street each day having people look at you thinking that even though you have been cleared you are actually guilty?

Mud sticks, it's a sad fact but even if someone is cleared and it is pronouced loud and clear these sorts of charges are never overlooked by the general public. There would always be a stigma and i know that many of these perfectly innocent people would end up killing themselves.

Try and put yourselves in the shoes of a falsly accused person with this sort of crime, do you think you could just happily shrug it off even after being cleared completely?

This FBI sting is a pitiful idea, badly executed and limited in it's effectivness.

EDIT

I have posted this over and over in this thread, everything above is true and easily done. I'm not speaking as some random person online, i'm a computer security expert, this is what i do. Networks and servers are my main fare and i tell you setting someone up would be nicely simple.

For the person who said the redirect link idea had been debunked, well i'm afraid not. You need a little more than a redirect but it's nota great dal harder, a small script (script being a section of code) could easily be imbedded in an innocent website. It would click all the available links needed to cause someone unimaginable trouble.

Again (as I mentioned at the top of this very page), except for ruining their life through the stigma of being plastered all over the 6 o'clock news for being the prime suspect in a kiddie porn raid. It wouldn't matter if they were exonerated. The damage would already be done.

P.S. Drop the caps lock, it's considered rude.

damn kiddie porn is wrong but they shouldnt be prosecuting the people just for clicking on a link they should be spending their time and money looking for the people who make this #!

Ruining THEIR life? What about the kids who are getting abused?? They will never grow up and have a normal life... trust me, I know this. I can understand how it can be damaging for a person (IF THEY ARE TRULY INNOCENT) if they accidently came across the porn, or someone else was using their computer, but how long does the damage last? Until they move to a new town? The damage someone has from being abused lasts their lifetime... you can NEVER ESCAPE it. I think its great that the FBI are trying to do more about it. I wish we had a system in place like that in Australia.

You know, I've got this awesome plan to completely rid Los Angeles of child molesters. Let's blow it up. Let's nuke it, the whole city.... TWICE. There won't be a single pervert left in town or anywhere downwind of it for a hundred miles.

And then, after the damage is done and the pedos are wiped out, we'll pay for the funerals of anyone who might have possibly died by mistake who's not a pedophile.

Yep. It's a bulletproof plan that can't possibly be evil or stupid because it's target is pedophiles. Who's with me?
