Putin's pick wins Russian election

english.aljazeera.net

Russia's next president has promised a "direct continuation" of his predecessor's policies.

Dmitry Medvedev, backed by Vladimir Putin to suceed him as president, won an overwhelming 69.6 per cent of Sunday's vote, official results from the Central Election Commission showed.

His nearest rival, Gennady Zyuganov, only managed 18 per cent.

"You can describe some elements of my position in different ways, but it seems to me that it will be a direct continuation of that path which was carried out and is being carried out by President Putin," Medvedev said in his first post-poll news conference on Monday.

Russia's 'election' was about as big of a joke as ours here in the states...They really had no freedom of choice. Putin selected who was going to take his place, and the people just have to go along with it, much like our disgrace of an electoral system here in the states.

I totally agree, the poor old russian people have had, what , a hundred years of no choice at all, it would seem that they can forget about the next hundred for a while as well. Like most countries,if not all, I believe the populations themselves are good people, yes, like eveyone else their customs are different, it's their governments that are the problem, and, dare I say it, the "elite" .
All the talk about secret this and that, by the government in america, and the taking away of rights, etc, is in my eye, because "most" americans are pretty pashionate people, and have the guts to make a stand for what they believe in.Which makes it even easier to send them to war! but also makes them harder to control. The russians, (I mean no offense) probably just want to sit back and drink vodka and chill!
They introduced daylight saving here in west australia, despite the protests, which consisted mainly of grumbling.A three(3) year "trial"????
No vote, no referendum, (we've had three of those..all knocked it back!!)
We don't really get a say at all, (the sun rises in the east and sets in the west we already have more then enough daylight!)
In the last election(state) the party that won(labour) got in because of one reason and that was not because they won on votes!
Another party (seemingly rascist) One Nation, garnered most of the votes, probably all the backward rednecks(yes we have them too!!)
but they "gave" their prefferences to labour!!
so the party I voted for got in because everyone voted for a different party?
This made me mad, what if it was the other way around? democracy?
democracy is as dead as socialism
just my opinion,

Putin isn't a bad president. He has helped rebuild Russia and instill nationalism in Russia, which is probably NOT part of the NWO.

What? Putin raised inflation 12% last year, and 15%! this year...Can you fathom that incom, and yet the poor still like 2nd world country. And That money goes to military! The people might say there content but that is because they remember the 90's...and the 80's.

But in your light- I have heard the concept that Russia is the Only free Country from the "builderberg Group" aka NWO aka Federal Reserve. I wouldn't be suprised if half the # on the news, twards russia let alone anything else, would create a bad taste in Americans mouth to ward them away from even listening or adapting their Goverment Structure.
I will give you that.

I'm Russian (I live in the US, but can go to Russia any time I want) and i can tell you that Putin, unlike Bush, is a popular man. And when Russia was USSR, it was controlled by Elite/Bilderberg. But now, with the fall of the USSR, Russia might as well be the only "sovereign state" left. There is a movement to unify sovereign states into "superstates" (European Union, NAU, etc.) Also Soviet Union. The collapse of ANY Union CANNOT be par tof the Agenda. Hence the negative media attention. Especially Putin. If Putin was doing as Bilderberg wished, would he get so much negative attention.

Andther thing, there is high income tax everywhere (Britain has 70%, US 35%), but Russia only 13%!!!!!
