You don't generally see lens flares originating from clouds though, as it would appear in the pic in question...I can't readily recall seeing that actually...a lens flare from a highly reflective cloud...white-washed out yes, but as if solid...hmm...through the clouds yes...from them...hmm

No don't think so, neat cloud pics though
I would still say this falls into good fake or "other" category. Unless the memory trace can prove it was doctored beyond any compression utility that may have been installed on the original box. Could be wrong on all of it though -shrugs-

Darn, I really thought I had replied to you but now I realize I never did.
Ok, I agree with you because I see the same thing.

I was using the image from the original post.
It wasn't until Internos posted the link that included a more detailed photo that I was able to see the data you describe.

I also used a hex editor and saw the references to Photoshop you intially mentioned, so I concur.
