Smile and say 'Ni hau' and you will usually get a smile in return. If they don't, they're just plain old grumpy.

They can't smile because their eyes will disappear. j/k

I'm not Chinese and you will hardly ever see me smile in public. I'm not miserable either. I keep a poker face so no one knows what I'm thinking. You'd be surprised at how intimidating a blank face is to other people.

OK. OK. Racism is "bad" in all it's forms even when used to point out racist behaviours. I apologize for the Cuban-American joke.

That post of mine was censored or was removed by a person I can not name because it was in the form of a private U2U instead of in public. Think about that.

But graces are in many forms, and I've been awarded a better joke! I'll just save it for a rainy day.

I'm sorry the OP feels people of Chinese nationality are somehow pre-disposed not to smile at or with them...

I'm smiling very broadly at the moment.

Cheers,

Have a nice society of fear of your fellow citizens,

Vic

V,

What in the heck did you just say? It went right over my head, and i'm glad it did.

Sounds like you could use a stiff drink at the local Cuban little dive on 8th street in Miami. Mingle, they make no sense (those people) but they do smile quite a bit.
Watch your wallet.

Smart rich women!!!!!

Oh and "V"...

This is a lighthearted broad comment on BTS on how a certain part of the world considers smiling in public "not kosher"
If your comments are due to playing the racist card, sorry, you got it all wrong.
There are downright mean threads, and then there's this one.
No harm is being done here at all.
Please, get a grip???
Thank you verymuch.

I went to high school and have worked with Chinese people. They are some of the funniest people I have ever had the pleasure of not understanding! I think they were making fun of me being a big American ogre, but hey it's all good

Not Hannah Tan. She smiles too much, so says her photographer.

In person she's a very cheerful girl. Life of the party.

Edit to add:

www.ahmoi.com...

It's like a Chinese-dominated version of MySpace. Plenty of smiling people in there who don't depend on their 'smile' for income...

I understand i painted them with a broad brush. Maybe this new generation is "smiling" even laughing...but the older folks have a problem with that.
I realize it goes back hundreds of years and that laughter is seen as disrecpectful.
I'm glad the new generations are more with the times.

Anyhow!!! Here's to laughter out of the far East!!!!!

Yeah I can relate to you here, and I live in China!!

Miserable buggers tha lot of um! Ok not all, that's a generalization, but percentage wise they are probably the most emotionally deceased nation on this planet. Maybe they all just want to go back to their own planet...

My wife can go on the first ship back!!

Me =

Monkey

On a more sensible note. It was my wife's smile that first attracted me, (the lucky girl!) and then her belly button and then her

Awww.. and I thought the giggling was an ancient tradition too..
Now I know why they were smiling.

I must admit I'm a racist.. I'd swap an English girl for an Asian anyday.
They're lovely lovely lovely.. Yummy!! Check the pics above. WOOWOO!!

There's just not many ethnically diverse girls in my UK address area.. Booooo!!

Well, we have the bucks, that pay for the Chinese food, that keeps them in business!
You'd think they'd swallow their racism and give a nod of approval once in awhile.

Ouch. I'm offended. Seriously, I am...not just that post, but from your other ones too.

I don't think you should put us all under the same hat just because of a few grumpies.

Edit- Some of them are really grumpy though..but mostly because life is harder in China.

This Mcdonalds rap started in the US

It went to Hong Kong, and look at their reactions compared to the American Mcdonalds
