I was thinking about this for some time now.

What do you all think about creating a new section called: Poetry?

We have home boards for everything under the sun; from Literature, Short Stories, Collaberative Writing, etc.

I've checked to see if we have any boards - specific to Poetry alone, and didn't find anything.

If we did create a new 'Poetry' discussion forum, we could include everything from our own works of art, to reviewing and comparing contemporary, classic, and otherwise.

"What sayeth Ye?"

An interesting idea,
I do concur.
To add to the confusion
Of the ATS mansion.

I alien.
I came across the universe
Beyond the dreams and stars
Ball of fire, want to desire
Humans need a friend
Wars they fought.

War, terror.
I alien hide in shadows
Await the end of confusion

war of the end.

Creating a new forum wouldn't be just for the simple pleasure of compiling posters writings, it would enable others to come together for enlightened discussion on the variety of works of today and yesterday.

Readers and non-readers alike strongly believe that poetry offers personal and social benefits. Although poetry is sometimes thought of as a marginal art, the people who read it are more connected with life and culture than those who do not.

~It is a form of 'self discovery', that brings forth creation~

~It is a 'tool/instrument' to enlighten others~

~It is 'theraputic'~

As a child I remember sitting in school daydreaming. My mind would wander out the window, and as it did, my feet would begin to tap a rhythm. The more I would fall into the rhythm, the more complex it would become, and then words and images would swim to mind. Before I could write them down, however, the teacher would call me back to the classroom, where shame would quickly replace ecstasy, having lost one focus for another. Only years later would I understand that entering the space of rhythm was the place where poetry dwelt, and that place resisted the mind of everyone but the individual, the creative Self, the "I."

Grim!

I read Your Thread this morning.

I just got back from work, and wanted to tell you that I very much enjoyed your poem!

I want Somebody to create a Poetry Forum where we can all go to post and discuss our works.

We can all 'lay our cards on the table', so to speak, and discuss:

*Meanings/Symbologies
*Motives behind written work
*Alliteration/Hyperboles/Metaphores
*Many more things!

As well as re-iterate other Classical Works!

Thankyou Grim for your support!!!

I concur,

Here is something I wrote earlier before reading this, maybe an inspiration to start the forum:

What are we?

You are the haunting in the basement,
You are the darkness that emanates life.
You are the spring that brings forth hope,
You are the depth of all things.

You are the oil in the plant,
You are the unconscious thought.
You are the time between darkness and day,
You are the instrument of change.

You are the seed below the surface,
You are the stone in the flowing river.
You are the ray of life unseen,
You are the measurement of growth.

You are the sun slowly setting,
You are the fruit fallen from the tree.
You are the utterance of wisdom as the last breath falls.
You are the brilliance of the soul complete.

Wow!! Look at this!

See everyone?

There are soooo many wonderful minds in our community and abroad that need a place to lay our hats...and discuss our metaphoric thoughts.

I've presented a few plausible/great ideas as to Why? there should be a Poetry Forum.

Can anyone provide valid reasons as to why we shouldn't have this forum?

I feel strongly...that there is a need for this forum

Agree or Disagree?

We used to have one.... Maybe it got lost in the shuffle in one of our dozen upgrades.

Did you check BTS thoroughly?

We have lots on the plate right now but when S.O. gets a breather we might be able to accommodate this.

I am posting in an area where I am showing emotional vulnerablilities, rather than my usual thumping......

I think that the main practicality is adding another banner for this forum. So rather than forum name, first post... followed by reply....poem (optional), reply..... I think it would be hard not to brown nose or stick up alternatives, so on the page there needs to be a link to that posting's poem. Yes, that's better.

So,

1. A poem link.
2. A poem bit.
3. No no, no ink.
4. A post bit.

Poetry has been posted in the short Story and Collaborative Fiction forums for some time now. I've posted a series in CF, mainly to take advantage of the writer status that's needed for access there. The SS forum is open to all members, though.

I also think it's a good idea to have a specific place for poetry.

Nice one, Duckster.

I can't give this idea up.

Period.

There is NO POETRY FORUM.

How many of you have exercised your creativity, and found out that YOU had to post in the 'General Posts'?

How many of you have exercised your creativity, and hoped that your words, would not fall on deaf ears?

How many of you have found a 'distinguished poem', and it means 'the world to you'?

Please support this thread and ask everyone to help create a 'POETRY discussion forum' for all.

bump - for good purpose!

I'm fighting for ALL Poets.

There isn't a 'said' forum for Poetry.

We have everything under the sun....except a place for our 'world poets' to come together under one roof.

If need be, I, personally, would be willing to moderate this portion of our forum.

I would take that 'portion' out of my day...just to ensure that the well-deserved poets/writers of our community would have a chance to speak amongst our community.

I would take responsibility.

You now have a commitment from me.

When S.O. can come up for air (he's busier than a blind bee with several initiatives we are building for T.A.N.) we'll see that this gets done.

That's all the support you need.

All I ask is patience and a reminder U2U in about 7 - 10 days.
