This is a cool topic. I moved to Maryland a couple years ago and you just gave me the idea to visit Antietam, so thank you for that.

The first place that came to mind was Gravity Hill, in Pennsylvania.
www.gravityhill.com... Among other oddities, your car will roll UP a hill from a dead stop. It is on a public road and is totally free.
May I also suggest that as you plan your trip you visit roadsideamerica.com.... On their Home Page they claim to be
" Your Online Guide to Offbeat Tourist Attractions ". You can search by state, so you can decide how tou want to travel, then find out what is in the area.
A website called "Roadside Architecture" has some interesting stuff.
