I don't know if this is the right timeframe or not, but i know theyhave been finding artifacs from shipwrecks. the explorers who were trying to find the northwest passage. i know they found preerver corpses, pieces of the ships, and little things that would be onboard like silverwhare and such.

Hehe. The NorthWest passage is in the diametrical oposite end of the planet. But your point is somewhat valid. Everything you find along shores of any continent can be wreckage or things which have come surfing on the tidal waves.
