The settlers never took anything from the Indians...LOL.

I think you may have read a book written by a biased person.

Ppl often forget that books are written by other ppl, and often
they are skewed and that often History is written by the Victorious.

I will to try to shed some light past your indoctrination.

Wounded Knee

Wounded Knee was a slaughter of women and children.

They took the Nez Perce lands the first time, and the Nez Perce agreed
as long as they kept most of their homeland.

Then once gold was discovered they decided to come back and
shrink it 10 times smaller than before.

Chief Joseph

One of my families tribes wrote a farewell to the settlers ppl as
all of their lands were confiscated and shipped off to the prison state
known as Oklahoma til oil was found, and then the took most of
that state too.

The Choctaw voluntary eviction

After a bit of a wait, and a lot of the indians died off on the
reservations due to various reasons, they decided 109 of the
tribes would no longer receive recognition and their lands
and rights as indians were forfeit.

Indian Termination Policy

So as an Indian who is Great-Great grandchild of Green McCurtain
I assure you that what you are being told is not the whole truth,
but the comfortable truth.

I challenge you to read all the truth, and then speak to how we were
paid for what was taken from us.

It is well and clear that the government lies to us now, do you really
think it was that different then ?

As a person of native american background i felt a need to post a comment. When lands were sold for white mens trinkets, the Native Americans were laghing behind the backs of the whitemen saying to ourselfs, "How could land be owned". Where white men were thinking they pulled one over on these people, the Native Americans were thinking they had done the same to the white man. They didn't realize the implications as to what had been done until they were shot while hunting on the land that the White Men now claimed as their own. People talk about raids on forts as though the N.A. people were violent war mongers looking to slaughter the whites. What people don't realize is that it was more of revenge for what had been done to them, and not every N.A. peoples took the fight to the whites, there were many that retreated to be left alone only to be pursude and slaughtered by whites.

What a great way this country was founded. And yes this continued after the country was no longer under England rule.

The same thing has happened for years in Ireland as well, which is the main reason for the uprising of the IRA. They were thought as savages as well.

Where as Chritianity plays a big part in this, it was not the original intent of christianity to be forced upon people. it was supposed to be preached but it was up to the individuals listening wether they believed or not. Unfortunately it was brutally enforced at the time and the cause of much of this pain in the americas as well as in Ireland.

I have had many indian friends (yup, indian). Some are resentful. Some get oil money. Some make big cash with casinos and don't share properly. Some are, indeed, drunks. Most, imo, have lost touch with their 'ancestoral ways.'

They were slaughtered, 1 million plus, for what they had. They tried to fight this, but you can't fight the greed they faced, which was black soul driven by Looeamong, the conceiver of the jesu mythology, and creator of xtianity.

In the land founded upon 'freedom of religion,' their religion was outlawed (it no longer is); imprisonment or death was the result of being found practicing it: to this day, those who practice their ancient religion of worship of the 'Great Spirit' (Sun), are very secretive about it. Talk about hypocrisy.

They have legends that tell them they will rise up and take back what was theirs. I doubt it: you'd have to kill all other greedy cultures (everybody), and though they are warriors, even spiritual elders would not allow this. So much for that.

They are a spiritual race, something detested worldwide, regardless of 'mouthings' to the contrary. They have blessings of evolutional 'differences' that they have, for the most part, lost contact with, which was by design.

Need some links on how this was all precipitated here in the land of the free? The story of the eradication / destruction-of-culture of the Algonquin species is truly told in OASPHE published in 1886. And why.

So, the inner wealth that they were/are part of is now carefully hidden from others. Some very few try to disseminate this; it is greatly ignored.

Talk about the greatest loss of americans, this was it. What brothers/sisters we would all have made.

Greed is a monster that has almost destroyed this planet.

Yes it is and it continues. I wonder if we will ever learn to live together as one species on this planet without segregation. And Yes segregation still exists in all countries regardless of what you may think.

I would love to see just one President give at least a node to the great American Native peoples. We go on daily through our live griping about this and about that...but do you ever hear the native people gripe. When if anyone in this nation has a right to it is them. These are the people who should be our teachers and philosophers. They are the true Americans. We speak of building our infrastructure back up....how about us building at least some more infrastructure for these people. Many on reservations live in dismal conditions...it is truly saddening what we have done to these great people.
