Unknown Symbol on $100 Bill

Hey guys so yesterday I received a $100 from my dad for some work I did for him. Anyways I got the bill and when I turned it around I saw this symbol. I've never seen it before and well it just looks weird. Anybody know what it is? And who uses tis symbol? Thanks guys.



As for the bill its a 1999 Series bill.

Could you post a picture of the entire bill so that we may see exactly where that is located on it?

Its located on the back of the bill. The middle of the Right side of the bill.

Dont want to scan the entire thing because isn't against the law?

Does it look stamped on or is it original printing from the mint?

Looks like somebody just put a stamp on it.

I don't think it's part of the original bill.

I don't know it could be stamped. At first I thought it looked like it came like that but it does stand out from the rest of the bill.

Surely someone else on this forum owns a hundred dollar bill to compare with...?

Well why doesnt everyone send me their hundred dollar bills and I will "analyze" all of them.

That looks like a "marker" stamp that was placed on the bill AFTER it was printed at the mint.

Marker stamps are used by financial institutions, casinos, walmart, etc to mark bills as they are counted. This was/is done by places that do not have the ability to use electronic bill counters and will stamp every 50th bill or so.

that is a stamp from a special kind of pen that will tell if the bill is counterfeit or not.

If that is what it is then this bill is counterfiet.

The only way a "tester" pen will show its ink is if the bill is counterfeit, otherwise every hundred dollar bill would be unrecognizeable due to the fact they would be covered in ink.

I believe scanning money is legal if you increase the size or decrease it by 20% but better to be safe

I think this is illegal, the ink used for checking counterfit rubs off

the stamp looks a bit intricate to be a "counterfit marker"
reminds me of the "wheres George" thing..

one thing that stands out is that the ink seems to be a
good color match..

I just checked have 4 of them ,it must of been stamped by someone prior for some reason or another

Isn't that the treasury seal? And isn't it like, on all money?

I have a few $50's, but no where takes a $100 (at least not where I shop lol)




I do not believe that this stamp is apart of the original design, perhaps it was added by someone who carried it for a while.

I have a 1996 and 2001. Neither has an inverted pentagram, and I didn't expect them to. There ARE some oddities about our currency, but this is someone hoaxing around. I'm not accusing the OP, just someone.

the counterfiet pen is just a line like a normal pen that they draw on the bill its black if its real idonno what color it turns if its fake but they did it at a allsups (new mex convenience store) one day and i was watching

See thats what threw me off was the inverted pentagram. It just weirded me out. I thought if I showed it to you guys, maybe you all could help me find out what it is. And it seems I was right, thanks for the help.

The final verdict:

I'll take it then as counterfeit measure.

I just stopped and thought for a moment. I have not seen a 100.00 bill in years.

I guess I just use my debit card too much.
