Talk about a good start. 10/16 spots filled. We probably will be expanding to 24 spots if it keeps up like this, and that's no problem. If I missed anybody, be sure you tell me.

I'd like to have a go as well, if I'm not too late.

If we are allowed to express a preference, I'd be particularly interested in a debate on any issue relating to UFOs/SETI rather than a political debate (but I'll take whatever is on offer).

All the best,

Isaac

You guys are in. 12/16 spots filled, or 12/24, depending on interest. Let's tentatively plan to start the debates on Friday if we have all of the spots filled.

you said you wanted topic ideas. We probably cant choose what we want to talk about, but if we could, these are some of my personal beliefs:

the Gods were extraterrestrials
There is no such thing as a NWO/World Conspiracy
The Soul incarnates into different lives and realities
Religion is a form of mind control
There was no 9/11 cover-up
The school system was deliberately created to dumb people down

Good suggestions. Keep them coming.

The latest list: 14 out of 16 spots filled. As I've said, if we get a full 24 people, we can run a 24 person debate. In fact if we REALLY REALLY had to, we could run a 32 person debate, but I don't think we'll get that level of interest in a timely manner.

How about something on the upcoming US presidential primaries.

or something about the war on the middle class....

or about the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs to third world countries....

or the possibility of one of/any of the mythical animals(nessie, bigfoot, etc..) being real....

or whether the Amero could become reality.....

or whether Amhadinejad is truly a threat to western peace....

I'll think of some more later. Thats a couple of thoughts though.

shoot... im game!

i read the OP three times over, but still have no idea what a debate is around here..

are there multiple topics? single topic? do we get to pick our own side, or do we debate a certain side of a particular topic? etc.

  • Should the USA and its allies have invaded Afghanistan?
  • Should countries in Africa become a political and economic union?
  • Can the assassination of a dictator be justified?
  • Can terrorism ever be justified?
  • Is it correct for university authorities to ban hate speech?
  • Is it morally acceptable to experiment on non-human animals to develop products and medicines that benefit human beings?
  • Should the pharmaceutical patenting system be liberalised?
  • Science has shown itself capable both of killing and curing – on balance, for which does it have more potential?

    Souls and Scientist make 16.

Slackerwire is number 17, and we are going for 24. If we can get 7 more people, slackerwire is in.

    Great topic choices Chissler.
I would be very interested in debating the the validity of Universities banning hate speech and any variations thereof.
