On this moonlit night, we feel the change as it strikes.
Fur sprouting thick, we get ready for flight
Afraid, unsure, are you ready for it
Follow me now on the path moonlit
Run with me now and I'll show you how the wolf claimed it
The night moonlit

I oh my, a secret lies here, a birth I say, a birth is near!

Seedlings in me, seedlings in you, dying in many rising in few.
Each was called,
Each came due,

You gave me the inkling
Otrageo, a prophet, a clue?
Under a fog comes a solid-gold liberty ship, I breathe a new!

A feisty young woman named Flo
was snatched up by a big UFO.
Though they took her away,
she came back the next day,
And she wasn't a skeptic no mo'

I've come to the conclusion
life is just an illusion

Why you ask do I feel this way
I don't know is all I can say

Is life really what we think it to be
I wish I had visions so I could see

Maybe I'm right or maybe I'm wrong
Until I know I'll keep myself strong

edit to add: Wigit I just read your poem and I'm giving you my star, you made me chuckle you did

There’s too much to do
just to barely scrape by,
I sometimes wonder
what the use is in trying…
time and time again I conclude,
well, it’s better than dying.

I chose to be safe, while those around me fell.

I chose to ignore, when they went off to hell.

I did not fight, the war that came,

It was not war, if it had no name.

Then they came for me,

THE BRIDGE

Flowing under are torrents of wonder
your strength carries me, your sway
worries me. Your arms are like towers
and your feet like flowers. Planted
you stay not to far away.

One day a fine soul, name of Wigit
Wrote a limerick that made us all fidget.
So we moaned and we groaned
At the word's he intoned.
Slapped his cheeks with a moldy old fish stick.

I would like to thank everyone who participated in this contest. Your overwhelming response and quality submissions have blown me away and surpassed my expectations for this contest, therefore a few changes had to be made. There were so many great entries covering many different topics and styles, that I simply couldn't select a singular winner or winners. So I ended up creating a special category titled Humor for additional prizes and bumped up the bounty offered initially.

Humor Category
1st Place: 5000 PtsWigit
2nd Place: 4000 PtsFuggle
3rd Place: 3000 PtsMajorMalfunction

Now for the Short Poem Winners:
1st Place: 10,000 pts
Lukekilla4
CyborgPirateNinjaJesus
2nd Place: 8000 pts
scientist
iggster
3rd Place: 5000 pts
AccessDenied
mtmind

And because these poems also spoke to me, I'll be awarding 1000 pts each to the following members for "honorable mention"

Siege
Mountain Star
Azatoth
Freenergy2
CthulhuRising
Lilin
TruthWithin
Observe50
Trek315
Dolomite
jimjamjerry
Secret Titan
bobafett1972
wenfieldsecret

I thoroughly enjoyed reading each and every poem, you guys and gals are all extremely talented and I look forward to your future participation in other contests.

Congratulations to all the winners.

I thought this contest was a blast. Major kudos to worldwatcher for presenting it and the difficult chore of picking the winners from such a fertile group of minds.

I read every one of these poems with pleasure.

Congratulations to all the winners and a heartfelt thank you to all those that took part.

aww its over, oh well im gonna add my rambling poem anyway (P.S dont judge me by it in a personal sense i was extremely inebriated)

Potato hamster vegetable food pizza neoconservative, facts of life, inevitable quandary of man, when did thou stray from the path of light. Is it wrong or is it right, to feel so good when world is death. To live a lie or die with dignity intact. When will man come back to truth, pursuit of money kills the soul, but the soul is already dead, then what does money do to us instead? If candy weren’t real then sugar would be a lie and if sugar is a lie then who are you and I? What of mammon and beezlebub, what of set and Osiris and the gods long dead, did they die and fade away, or will they return again some day? What if Yahweh, Allah, and God are one and the same but not at all? When will man learn the truth? Is it that he seeks or the search fro proof. What eludes man to this day? Is it hell or is it more, is it less or is it fore, when will we know these things? Time will tell, it reveals all things.

Well done everyone, and well done to me too. Thanks for for picking my poem to win the humour prize. I'm so chuffed I've decided try more comps from now on.Can I just say, I've never been much into poetry but I enjoyed reading through them all and thought jimjamjerry's one about the jabberwock, pan etc was fabulous and the one about the moon having no atmosphere was hilarious and the overall public vote winner, Scientist, was definitely deserved, (& his avatar is cool too). That one should be published IMO.They were ALL great.
