That would have been pretty hard to reverse from what I saw, but you like to blame the refs.

What cost the Ravens the game was the timeout call when they held Brady on 4th down. Then they hold them again and the lucky stinking Patriots get a procedure penalty called on them and they get another shot. Then the Ravens hold in the end zone. Unbelievable.

Those three plays decided the game.

I only like to blame the refs when it's necessary.

You're not implying they do nothing wrong, are you? Do you or don't you think they favor teams like New England?

I would think that someone who has been watching football as long as you would have picked up on such a thing.

The refs make mistakes, no doubt about it. I just don't believe they make them on purpose. While occasionally a call truly affects the outcome of a game, if you look carefully, there were probably other calls that affected the other team at some point in the game that could be questioned. There is almost ALWAYS a point or points in a game where if a team makes a play the game can be decided.

That is much more real than the refs favoring one team or another. That's just my opinion, of course. If it makes it more fun for you to think the league strives to influence the results of games through the officiating, please do. I'm sure you're not alone in that belief.

There has been some fishy calls as of late, but that's hardly a conspiracy.

The Ravens blew it on many fronts. The botched time out, back to back to back to back three and outs late in the fourth quarter.. it goes on and on. I think it's nonsense that they couldn't decline the false start penalty against the Patriots on the second time they stopped them on fourth and one. They stopped them the first time, but it was taken back because of the botched time out. Then the second time, the Patriots get another opportunity because they broke the rules? That's utter garbage.

As disgusted as I was over the outcome, this was one of the best Monday Night games in quite some time.

Missed getting my picks in this week. I did call the Dallas Green Bay game last Thursday, but probably would've missed a good 6 on Sunday.

Last night's game, what a bummer. I feel really badly for Baltimore. A very winnable game they should've had. I'd hate to have been Billick in the locker room after the game having called that time out and facing the defense. That had to be ugly.

The Gaffney TD reception would've been tough to overturn, IMO. I'm not sure there was sufficient legitimate reason to overturn the call on the field, but it wouldn't have hurt my feelings. And the Ravens pulled enough bonehead stuff to lose, anyway.

Had they gotten the ball back on downs with 1:40 left, they could've fumbled and had it run back. We'll never know now.

I do think New England has shown themselves to be beatable. Whether or not they'll lose a regular season game is another question. I don't see them going undefeated through the Super Bowl, but that's likely wishful thinking.

Gonna be interesting, for sure.

Baltimore made some stupid moves. That time out when they had New England stopped is most definitely up there at the top.

But still, I get the feeling New England had a few timely "gifts", for lack of a better word.

It doesn't make it "more fun" for me to think that's going on, but I'm going to think it's going on as long as there's reason to believe so.

That TD pass was clearly bobbled. He caught it, he had two feet in, but the ball was still moving around in his hands. You have to have complete control and retain control in the end zone until the play is completely over, and that includes falling out of bounds. He didn't gain complete control until he was falling out of bounds, and at that point, he only had one foot down, with the other stepping out.

Possession is when the ball is not moving. That ball was moving. I don't see what's so tough about that.

New England goes down this week. Lock it up.

I find myself really REALLY wanting them to lose. I'm officially a Steelers fan for Sunday.

My level of eagerness for someone to lose will be at it's second highest point this season. The highest is the 1 o'clock game of Dallas and Detroit. I shouldn't need to say who I'm cheering for in that game.

I'm pulling the end-around: The team that has been exposed as a fraud the last few weeks and is destined to lose this Sunday is, in fact, playing in the Patriot / Steeler game.

But it ain't the Patriots.

I'm not nervous about it. Oakland isn't really that type of team. There's bad teams, and there's bad upset capable teams. Oakland is just a bad team.

As long as Favre doesn't force his arm and make bad decisions, I think they should be just fine. Oakland will have to rely on turnovers. They're not good enough to match up with Green Bay. So as long as Green Bay protects the football and just runs Ryan Grant all over that bad run defense of Oakland, they'll win.
