Firing by Bush rejected by boundary official

A dispute over a backyard wall in Whatcom County has reached all the way to the White House, with President Bush firing International Boundary Commissioner Dennis Schornack over his handling of the matter.

But on Wednesday Schornack rejected his dismissal by the commander-in-chief.

So... He basically thinks that he can fire anyone, anywhere, anytime. Awesome.
Is he that detached? Why doesn't he just fire everyone that disagrees with him?

Here's another twist


So Schornack pressed ahead, against the wishes of the Justice Department, and last week enlisted former U.S. Attorney Mike McKay to represent the IBC in U.S. District Court in Seattle, Feldman said.


McKay was one of the fired US Attorneys.

He obviously can't fire this guy, assuming that his information about the IBC is true. The lawyers will sort it out. But I have trouble believing that the firing of a surveyor is the dark herald of the clippity-clop of the horsemen of the Apocalypse.
