To start things off, I saw ATS featured on Attack of The Show on the G4 channel and wanted to check it out, but had never gotten a chance to until today. D: I like it, it's...homey.

Well I'm a female teenager, I live around the area of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, etc. My first and last sighting was last year.

My mother and I were driving back from my cousin's house, taking the "normal" way home wihich takes a pretty long road which winds through some woods(that have alot of homes in them of course). As we started getting towards the end of the road to where we would have to turn left to get home, I saw a large ball/circle of light in the sky. When we reached the end of the road to where there is a barn and a pretty large feild with some houses and woods scattered around it, the ball had grown QUITE larger than we had first seen it. I pointed it out to my mom and she slowed down her driving, only because there was no one behind us at the time. She opened the sun-roof of the car to get a closer look(at that I kinda freaked out XD) and she let me unbuckle my seatbelt to get a better view, she of course was watching the road, being that it was dark and late at night. After about a miniute or so, the ball of light just disappeared.

I told my mother that it disappeard, and she said that it was probably just a low flying milatary plane that went above/into a cloud. I, to this day, still believe that it was a UFO that I saw, because I've told many people about this and they've said they've never seen a military plane fly like that. The ball of light didn't have any blinking lights that a plane should have either.

Any thoughts? ;A;

Sounds a lot like the World War II foo fighters that Allied aircraft pilots saw. Very interesting story. Welcome to ATS.

I have seen white balls of light here in Birmingham, AL on several occasions around 2002. They were not every day or week but frequent considering the weirdness factor. I was a pizza delivery guy around then so I was outside a lot (in a car or at someone's house).

Did the light 'open and close' evenly from the center like the pupil of your eye? I looked them up on the internet after I saw them, and other people around here said they saw them after I told them to keep an eye out. They were referred to as 'Iris' ufo because of the way they lit up and dissappeared evenly.

Was it a pure white light that didn't seem to actually illuminate anything as a spot light would, with no bleeding edges or 'rays' that you see when looking at a streetlight for example?
