Seriously folks, land of the free, lets see...

Why is the fascist symbol, the fasces, doing anywhere near America anyways?

But right in the back where the President makes his state of the union speech that someones written for him, there you have two of the fascist symbols plastered there, what are they doing there?

The fasces is an ancient symbol, comes out of the Roman empire, and in vague terms is a symbol of power. But what it means in detail, is the rods symbolize individuality, freedom, tied together, ruled by the axehead, the central point, its how the Romans ran their empire. It means suppression and control, and it is the very word where we get the word fascism from. The word fascism comes from the word fasces!

In the land of the free, you have the fascist symbol, the complete opposite of freedom and liberty. And you see how your government acts, with its power trips, and its complete ignoring of the will of the people, and its greedy corrupt acts, we are truly living in a fascist state masked as a democracy.

Benito Mussolini, who I think knew a little something about fascism, is famous for saying that fascism should be called corporatism. Its where the government and the corporations work together to suppress you, and increase their control. This is what is happening in America right now with the War on the Middle Class, and the War on Terrorism spread their fascist evil to other parts of the planet, under a masquerade of freedom and peace. Its such a travesty. ITS SO TREASOUNOUS!

Wake up, do it for your country, do it to save your country from the fascist whove ruined everything. Wake up before its too late, they have their New World Order waiting for you, will you accept it? Take action, spread the Truth, wake people up, fight for the good of humanity.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the symbol is from greek times, and appeared on the coin before the fascists adopted it.

Same thing with the swastika.

Edit:

And here's some other places to find a Fasces:

* The reverse of the United States "Mercury" dime (minted from 1916 to 1945) bears the design of a fasces and an olive branch.
* Two fasces appear on either side of the flag of the United States in the United States House of Representatives, representing the power of the lower house and the country.
* The official seal of the United States Senate has as one component a pair of crossed fasces.
* The ceremonial Mace of the House of the United States House of Representatives includes a fasces design.
* Fasces ring the base of the Statue of Freedom atop the United States Capitol building.
* A frieze on the facade of the Supreme Court building depicts the figure of a Roman Centurion holding a fasces, to represent "order". [1]
* At the Lincoln Memorial, Lincoln's seat of state bears the fasces on the fronts of its arms.
* Four fasces flank the two bronze plaques on either side of the bust of Lincoln memorializing his Gettysburg Address at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
* The fasces appears on the state seal of Colorado, USA, beneath the "All-seeing eye" (or Eye of Providence) and above the mountains and mines.
* On the seal of the New York City borough of Brooklyn, a figure carries a fasces; the seal appears on the borough flag.
* Used as part of the Knights of Columbus emblem (designed in 1883).
* The regimental crest of the U.S. 71st Infantry Regiment of the New York National Guard consisted of a gold fasces set on a blue background.

Well look at the fruits of their labour, look at the symbols they use, how can you say this is not fascism, when is the last time the government followed the will of the people? I mean really, if we lived in a real democracy, this war would be over now, because the vast majority of Americans, 65 percent in polls, want out of the Iraq war NOW. But, instead, they send MORE troops in, the complete opposite of what the people want. But its too keep us safe!

And, the fact that there are so many fascist symbols all over the place should only provide more proof in your mind for this, the real problem here is you people are scared to face this reality, your scared to have to think that maybe you really do live in a fascist state, and theyve been lying to you the whole time, but brother, have no fear! We will beat them, please, just go research the facts, do it for yourself, your family, your country, do it because its the right thing to do in the eyes of God. We will all be judged for what weve done in these times, and we have to put the fear aside and face the truth, only then will we overcome the darkness.

Jeez, I guess those good folks in Swastika, Ontario are in for a real wake-up call, then. Thanks to the OP for the heads-up.

They are probobly there as a backdrop for our master, when we fall into dictatorship. The way our government is acting these days, I'm suprised more people don't want to educate themselves on the deteriorating liberties of the citizens.

Further, and more to the original post, I just read the following on Eric Margolis' website:

Under the US Constitution, the president, a position modeled on the consular office of Republican Rome, is military leader and holds primacy in foreign policy. The US Senate was patterned on the Roman Senate, whose bunched rods and ax insignia it bears on its wall on either side of the speaker’s dais. Congress declares war, controls pursue strings, levies troops, and confirms treaties. The Constitution is vague about Congressional power in foreign affairs. But, at minimum, Congress speaks for all Americans; particularly in wartime, and must not be ignored.

www.ericmargolis.com...
Perhaps it better conveys the message.

Its all very worrying isn't it, but the problems you face are mirrored by our own in the uk. Our own house of Commons has become nothing more than a group of glorified 'yes' men. Almost every proposal of any significance gets voted through, there may be a bit of dissent possibly even a degree of heckeling but lo and behold it will still scrape through. They may block lesser proposals but things such a s ID cards, new police powers, anti-terror bills all seem to get through. I have very little faith in politicians any more, and it drops the more powerful they become. I think that the way the system operates you have to sacrifice and comprimise your ideals so much in order to get anywhere by the time your in a position to make a difference you've already sold you soul.

Respectfully,

Mal,

It has never.
The government follows the will of the people that gain the power.
The people only choose for those to get power of which they think they might benefit themselves, or just have anything positive happen from it.

And democracy *cannot* follow the will of the *people* at all.
If anything at all, it would only follow the will of the majority, which still, is limited.

Well, the majority of Americans, 65 percent in recent polls, want America out of Iraq, but they send more troops in, there is no democracy, it is a fascist state masqueraded as a democracy.

And understand the two-party system is really a facade. The entire administration, from the president to the junior members of Congress, is one body of bureaucrats that, for two centuries, has been controlled by the dictates of its Illuminati members or heavily influenced by that elitist group, but that power is greatly dwindling as we see the rise in "people power" like never before seen.

We do live in a one party fascist state that ignores the will and interest of the people, but this will not last, it cannot last, we will restore America and the world to what it really should be.
