So We Have a Post Rating/Member Rating System Now?

Stars appear and disappear, why wont they make up their collective minds?!?!


On a more serious note, if we do end up keeping this system, I'd like to lodge a suggestion
for a slight change..

Make the outlines a darker Grey, I can't see them to adequately rate posts.

I see the stars as still the ugly hateful yellow, not a cool blue.

It's gonna get pretty entertaining when that number in front of the starts gets so large it fills up the mini-profile.

I like it when something new on ATS is installed right before my amazed eyes.

I don't have any stars...

Interesting. I wonder how it works. What's the difference between the first and the last star?

Ok, so let me see if I've figured this out.


The number of stars on a post is the first rating it gets when only one person has rated it,
but averages out after more than one has rated it.

The number next to the stars on posts is the number of people who have rated it.

The amount of stars in your profile is the average amount of stars that your posts get rated.

The number next to the profile stars is the amount of posts that have been rated.


Am I anywhere close to being correct?

It looks like the number in the post is the number of folks who have rated that post, I would guess that the number on your profile is the number for the entire site. Like I have 8 so far overall, and only 1 on some posts. The stars follow the same format, on the post itself it is the average rank for that post, on the profile it is your total average over the entire site.

I've noticed that this rating system only occurs in ATS.

Nothing happening in BTS or in Politics. Hmm...

Is it a possibility that this system will only be in ATS, or just a testing ground to later include the other boards?

The number are all weird now.

The numbers in the profile are gone, and it sees you only see the numbers next
to posts that have been rated.

I'm sure this will be phased into BTS & AP eventually. Most new items end up on ATS before the other two domains.

well I had no stars then 5 star and now 3 stars? I flagged this thread and this is my second post since these stars appeared. uhm

edit: now I have 2 at this rate I will be back to zero in time

can we have the option to prevent these things from being displayed?

i figured it out... each post can be rated, the blue stars is the posts rating.. and the yellow stars on your avatar is the average vote you have received, with the number of votes you have gotten.... seems like a cool concept.

This is sweet, now we can rate members posts!
