JEDDAH -- Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, now being grilled by American investigators, has reportedly warned US authorities that he will expose Washington's "political games" and its behind-the-scene role in the occupation of Kuwait.

"Saddam threatened that if they continue to pressure him he will reveal startling facts - about America's political games with his country - that would shock the whole world," Al-Watan Arabic daily quoted a high-level European source as saying.

The source said Saddam had stopped answering the investigators' questions and asked them to "give him enough time to clear his mind." He did not elaborate further, the source added.

The source confirmed that the investigators approached Saddam with a list of Iraqi scientists involved in the development of weapons of mass destruction but Saddam told them that they were developing nuclear and chemical technology for civilian purposes, the paper said.

According to the European source close to US investigators, Saddam also said that he would ask the International Court of Justice in The Hague to try the United States for its crimes against the Iraqi people for allegedly using internationally prohibited weapons against the Iraqis during the last two wars against his country.

"If the Americans want to try me in a court of law, they should also try high-ranking international officials," the source quoted the former Iraqi dictator as saying. Saddam has insisted that his statements are recorded verbatim, the paper said. The source said Saddam neither prayed nor read the Qur'an, it added.

I can't see the other thread so this one will do.

Questions:

How does Saddam Hussein expect to be given a voice to reveal these startling facts about the US to the world? Is this a direct channel to the world during his interrogation (!), or is it something he anticipates during a trial?

What can he tell the world about f*ucked up US foreign policy that the world doesn't know already?

Where is the other thread on this?

I believe he's just gonna ramble for hours in the dock about how the US helped him, probably make stuff up to just to make it nice for the camera's.

Thanks Nerdling.

Oddly this topic now has more posts than the other one.

Maybe the topics could be divided between posters who feel the US could be damaged by a revealing Saddam Hussein dossier, and those who believe Saddam Hussein was a nasty tyrannical dictator who was righteously ousted by an effective US campaign with integrity.

How could we forget?

Right now, Saddam Hussein has his infidel captors mentally overpowered, and the US forces are surrounded and about to suffer ignominious defeat, and Bush and Blair are stupid hyenas and so on and so forth ad infinitum.

MA, i remember you saying you couldn't u2u, so did you procure the u2u i sent you last night?

Keeping on topic, The iraqi info minister was one of the better things this war gave us, who didn't love comical ali and his briefings about how the US was destroyed when soldiers were standing a few hundred feet behind him.

I predict saddam will die mysteriously before he has
a chance to make any public statements about what
he is insinuating.

They'll probably pull a jack ruby on him?
Die of "Natural Causes"?

Yes. My current U2U inability should be short term, I have only a handful to delete but they delete painfully slowly. An effective response to your issue might be for you to imagine a "waiting list"; be assured that the issue you raised about your personal interest will be taken up broadly where it counts.

And furthermore, the US forces are nowhere near the airport or Saddam's palace, they spend all their time having photographs taken next to date trees when they are not descending into bunkers in cowardice to avoid the mighty Saddam.

one must imagine the danger which saddam could be facing by making such a statement.
he has been caught for public purposes only...and therefore, if he proves too much hassle, he will be smuggled off to guantanamo, i think he should have stated all this IN the trial..instead of agitating his captors.
i also think he will be silenced soon, if he keeps his mind-games up.
ultimately, he's history...one must concentrate on the sheer irony of "our" oncoming battles, ergo: U.S v/s half the world

And oh so beautifully said MA.......
You would fall under the "posters who feel the US could be damaged by a revealing Saddam Hussein dossier" rather than the "those who believe Saddam Hussein was a nasty tyrannical dictator who was righteously ousted by an effective US campaign with integrity?"
