A 20-year-old man received probation after he was convicted of having sexual contact with a dead deer. The sentence also requires Bryan James Hathaway to be evaluated as a sex offender and treated at the Institute for Psychological and Sexual Health in Duluth, Minn.

He was found guilty in April 2005 of felony mistreatment of an animal after he killed a horse with the intention of having sex with it.

Well I don't personally think he should get in trouble for having sex
with it, that is unless he purposefully killed it to do so.

I personally find necrophilia, be that with human or animal corpses
to be gross, and disturbing, but, so long an animal is not intentionally
killed for it, and as long as I don't have to see it, I don't have a huge
problem with it.

I have to disagree, a sex offender is someone who non-consentually
violates another.

This individual has not violated anybody/thing, as it was dead, and
therefore that really does not apply here.


As gross as this may seem (and it is to me), it is not hurting anyone/thing,
and therefore is not really something he should be punished for.
Of course if he killed the dear to do this, than I think he should be fined,
but that is for a different matter.

I don't think someone like this should be punished necessarily. Certainly not something worthy of death. Castration maybe, not death. But they should be monitored. There is no doubt in my mind that someone capable of this action is a danger to society and those around him.

He was sentenced to 18 months in jail and two years of extended supervision on that charge as well as six years of probation for taking and driving a vehicle without the owner's consent.

The individual has a history of killing an animal with intention.
Unfortunately, the article does not state cause of death of the deer, it would imo be irrelevent. The act itself is enough to prosecute.

Does anybody remember that guy that was arrested a few years ago for running a barnyard brothel? He had people coming to have sex with barn animals and was getting paid cash for it. I think it was somewhere in Oregon.
