Senior leaders of Al Qaeda operating from Pakistan have re-established significant control over their once battered worldwide terror network and over the past year have set up a band of training camps in the tribal regions near the Afghan border, according to American intelligence and counterterrorism officials.

American officials said there was mounting evidence that Osama bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri, had been steadily building an operations hub in Pakistan.

Why of course. There have been numerous predictions here that bin ladens name would pop up some time before the upcoming elections.

I don't have a link to where I read that, but if I come across it I will post it here.

This should come as no surprise to many here.

Al Qaeda will always be able to re group and re train for as long as tribal regions in Pakistan remains a untouched haven. As as soon as Winter comes a long the coalition appears to take there foot off gas in other words the enemy isn't put under pressure all year round.

I raised the issues on this thread .
