From this article, Hillary Clinton makes it clear that she intends to "End the war in Iraq" if she gets elected as President in 2008. During speeches given in front of Democratic elders and activists, Hillary is faced with a dilema due in part of her original vote to approve the invasion of Iraq.

Hillary Clinton declared for the first time today that she she would end the Iraq war as soon as she became president, as she tried to confront the issue that poses the greatest danger to her White House ambitions.

Speaking to a huge audience of Democratic elders and activists, Mrs Clinton was left in no doubt that her vote authorising the war poses a serious threat to her candidacy, by the heckling she received and the rapturous reception given to Barack Obama, her main rival.

Mrs Clinton, by contrast, struggled to win over her audience. Reminding them that she recently proposed capping troop levels, some in the crowd shouted out: "What about bringing them home?" Mrs Clinton persevered. "If I’d been president in October 2002 I would not have started this war," she said. "And if we haven’t ended this war in Congress by January 2009, as president I will!"

Trying to gain support for their Presidential Campaigns, Senator Obama and Senator Clinton go head to head to woo elder members of a Democratic gallery. Senator Obama stood stanch on his stance from before the Iraq war, that he did not approve of the invasion. Hillary Clinton is faced with a difficult time trying to backtrack and find a way to gain support for her "I helped start it, but I'll end it" idealism.

Hillary's got a long road in front of her if she wants to get a larger group of supporters for her candidacy in the White House.

She's so a liar. She's so a hypocrit. If people believe her, they are guilable... Seriously.

First, she's in the inner circles, she went to Bilderberg, she's the wife of Bill Clinton, so she wants the war in Iraq, she agree with their plan.
Second, she could lead the vote to get out of Iraq NOW, but she don't do it.
Third, she voted FOR the Iraq war and she was fully aware that there was no WMDs, hell, she's the wife of Bill.

I don't understand why people can still support this *+/*, just because she's a democrat and a woman. It's so stupid reasons. And her moves show a hungry-power person, very dangerous with all the new powers the president have. Hopefully she'll not be the next US president.

Clinton's stance on the war is at best unclear. She was surely a staunch supporter of attacking Iraq at the time, but now she says if she was president then it wouldn't have happened?

I think she wants to try to triangulate on this issue like her husband was so skillful at, but there doesn't seem to be much middle ground on this issue left.

I would say though, it's true that Obama was publically against the war from the start, but then he wasn't in the U.S. government and had no real say. We really don't know what he would have done if he was in the Congress and had a much larger constituency to answer to.

Oh well if that be the truth (a) she wouldn't of voted for it and (b) look what she says about Iran. The same thing. She says and does one thing one time and thinking the American People to be dumb a few months later she does something else. Remember when she was running for senator of NY she said she is not running for the whitehouse several times she said that. Till after she won the election a second time and a few months later.... There it is shes running.

NEW YORK - Calling Iran a danger to the U.S. and one of Israel's greatest threats, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Thursday that "no option can be taken off the table" when dealing with that nation"U.S. policy must be clear and unequivocal: We cannot, we should not, we must not permit Iran to build or acquire nuclear weapons," Clinton told a crowd of Israel supporters. "In dealing with this threat ... no option can be taken off the table."

Yes I forgot to mention that.

Although she now seems to be against continuing the Iraq war until completion, she now seems quite supportive of attacking Iran.

Just wanted to add that the other democratic candidates except for Obama did the same thing as Hillary, although this won't be brought up much until one of them actually starts catching up with Hillary in popularity.

Personally I think its leaning too far left and is not the best course of action, and no I'm not a conservative, but most of the other demo candidates are similar. It is also hypocritical, for everyone thats doing it and not just Hillary, then again its playing politics to win votes, what did you expect.

Wow, if people can't see that this is a political ploy to get more vites than I truly will abandon hope for humanity. I agree with whats stated above. If she wouldn't have went to war in the first place then why'd she vote in favor of authorizing the Pres. to invade Iraq? Hillary is just another person who is going to try and bring about the NWO. Like anything else in our political system it's all a farce. People vote on most cases for the lesser of the two evils, and no matter how much these people say they care about the people, they just all want to get into office to further their own agendas. If Hillary gets elected you can kiss most of your 1st ammendment rights, all of your 2nd ammendment rights, and probably most of your 4th ammendment rights goodbye as well. The worst part about it is like in the past and even now, the ignorant sheeple(who are the majority among us) will freely give up these rights for a false security blanket that ultimately serves to further the governments control over the lives of it's people. In my opinion Hillary has a socialist agenda and everything she's now saying is BS. If Hillary is the main democratic candidate for President I'm just gonna say screw it and vote for Nader.

Didnt the WAR end back in 03?
and we are merely attempting to hand over security now?

Clinton does not have a way out of Iraq, or a method to stop the madness

If she did, she'd be using it now to stop the blood shed, and not using it as a political tool.

Sure, the "war" ended just a couple 2 or 3 weeks after the U.S. went into Iraq, but if we would have stopped at the closest of "legitimate" reasons for going in, "the terrorist acts, or sectarian violence would have brought unimaginable damages to our homeland".

Or so they say.
