Haga wins both Brands Hatch races, moves up in overall standings

WEST KINGSDOWN, England (AP) -- Japan's Noriyuki Haga won both races at Brands Hatch on Sunday and moved into third place in the World Superbike championship standings.

Haga pulled ahead in the final bend and beat France's Regis Laconi in the first race, finishing in 37 minutes, 8.172 seconds.

Haga took the second race in 37 minutes, 5.030 seconds over Italy's Pierfrancesco Chili.

Haga's victories lifted him from fourth to third in the overall standings. Laconi, who crashed out of the second race, is first with 218 points. Australia's Chris Vermeulen is second at 216, and Haga has 212.

Britain's James Toseland, who led the standings before Sunday's race, finished seventh in the first race and retired with engine problems in the second. He's fourth overall with 210 points
