the answer to this is a big YES...they are full time pit crew men, most of the team facilities now have a workout area for the crew as well as the drivers so they can stay in top shape, they work under tremendous pressure each and every week, when something like the wrench is left in the car it is often the result of mis communication, when the jackman drops the car the driver is supposed to GO...if he drops it before the adjustment is done it is too late to stop the car cause it is outa there....if you follow the sport closely during the off season you will see where top crewmen are signed from the lower tier teams to the top teams, the pit crews are a valuable part of any race team, each pit stop is video taped and the teams review the tapes both during the race and throughout the season to get the best results possible...

well you have missed quite a start, don't know why the front row would be hitting each other going into the first corner of a 160 lap race but that is what they were doing, leffler hit the wall and slid along it, lots of damage so he is done for the day
