Im not sure what to think of the symbol or the article.
Was hoping someone here could explain to me the meaning of the symbol.
And why the change to the uniform? Why was this added?
Either way its kinda creepy to see todays times echo back to a time passed.

(PrisonPlanet)-British police have been photographed wearing bizarre Nazi-like insignia on their uniforms as the attire of Tony Blair's enforcers begins to compliment the totalitarian society the Prime Minister is creating by openly abolishing freedom of speech and freedom of assembly under draconian crime and terror laws
www.prisonplanet.com...

The image was sent to us by a protester who joined around 200 others to march against the presence of the British National Party in Blackpool England on Saturday. Many consider the BNP to be a neo-Nazi front organization but some demonstrators probably left the event more worried about the similar direction in which UK police are heading, as exemplified by their changing uniforms.

The police officer photographed is wearing black attire that clearly bears the logo of a yellow lightening strike on a red background. It looks somewhat like a single 'S' as oppose to the double 'SS' worn by Hitler's feared Schutzstaffel, otherwise known as the Waffen SS, the Fuhrer's bodyguards who later grew to become the elite corps of the third reich's army.

Should Brits be a little concerned that a branch of their police is wearing insignia that wouldn't look out of place in 1930's Nazi Germany? Allied to the fascist policies that have all but ended every fundamental freedom in the country under the stewardship of Tony Blair, it seems this is just the natural progression for the proto-dictatorship, where you are completely free so long as you don't exercise any of your freedoms.

Can you find a picture/ article of this that isn't in anyway related to Prison Planet? Would help in validating the statement, considering a large majority of this board immediately dismisses anything from Prison Planet. Present company included.

Found a little more about the use of these symbols in the UK here.

(BBC)-The Special Forces Support Group (SFSG) based in Wales, will be drawn from Royal Marines, Parachute Regiment and the RAF Regiment.

Its insignia is a dagger run through by a lightning flash.

Pic also avaiable here

I don't see what this has to do with Nazis. For Nazi soldiers, the closest symbol related to what those officers are wearing is called "Sig Runes." Nazi soldiers would wear two parallel sig runes that were abreviations for "Schutzstaffel."

If the badges were meant to reflect sig runes, then it would most likely be there to represent the "sowilo," which was used in early history to represent the symbol for the norse goddess of the sun (Sol). It was later changed to symbolize "victory," which would be the most likely reason for them wearing it.

....
Its a lightening bolt. Its not a nazi insignia.

At least they note that the stance in the above photo is accidental.

I doubt its even because of that. Lightening bolts are just cool.

It's actually an occult symbol. The nazi SS symbols were taken directly from the Occult because people the likes of Hitler and Himmler took part in occult rituals at the SS headquarters which was a Crowley like Occult place of worship.

Its a lightening bolt. The nazis used germanic runes, because they were trying to push a germanic revival. Mixed in with all that was things like theosophy, ariosophy, and other occultic ideas, yes.

For goodness sakes people, all it is is that the officer is taser and other 'less than lethal' equipment trained, and this is his visible insigna so other officers, and those who mess with him, have fair warning that he carries a taser, as after all, its an almost universal symbol for high voltage electricity.

Vowles,
take your head out your arse, and respect peoples views even if they are different to yours - we all have differences of opinion and thats fine, but being plain nasty about it is not the way forward -

I have stated what those badges are, and that seemed to be the end fof the matter, all cleared up, all doe, and you had to add that comment?

Maybe you should leave ATS if you dislike it that much - speech isn't free any more apart from in communities like ATS online, and to have you come in and launch into a 'giggles' tirade...well its sad to say the least.

He's a taser officer and other less than lethal weapons trained ie baton / bean bag rounds ect.

Nothing more, nothing less - but it does give you fair ample warning that they are about!

well it isnt an SS symbol, but............. it does remind me of the lightning flash symbol used by Sir Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists in the 1930s!!

www.answers.com...

Interestingly 2006 is the 70th anniversary of the "Battle of Cable Street", when Mosley's men tried to march through a Jewish area in the east end of London.

Now, a confidential source informed me that Moseley isnt dead, and was seen recently at Lancashire Constabulary Headquarters
