What do you call a 'herd' of zombies anyway?

A question of evident pertinence and universal significance, originally asked by member DezertSkies on this thread.

Amazingly, it does not seem to have an official answer. Those busy coiners of collective nouns, the folk who gave us a murder of crows, a parliament of rooks and a spread of nymphomaniacs, seem never to have got round to zombies. Too far down the alphabet, I suppose.

So it's up to us here at ATS to come up with the goods.

Go on -- post your suggestions as to what a group or 'herd' of zombies should be called.

Just to start the ball rolling, here are a couple of my own suggestions:

- A rising of zombies

- A putrefaction of zombies

Right, now you have a go.

A horde of zombies?

It's got to be a 'pack' of Zombies doesn't it?

I'm basing this on the fact that my School Principal called us that at school assembly all the time.

A rabble? A flock? A gang?

I honestly don't know, but based on chavs, I'd say a gang.

A horde of zombies?

I second the Horde of zombies, lets take a look at the definition of horde

Horde
1. a large group, multitude, number, etc.; a mass or crowd: a horde of tourists.
2. a tribe or troop of Asian nomads.
3. any nomadic group.
4. a moving pack or swarm of animals: A horde of mosquitoes invaded the camp

I think both 1 and 4 would apply here. Therefore giving horde a clear advantage.

I would say a 'skillet of zombies'. Specifically a cast iron skillet of zombies.

Once again, pointing out the amazing usefulness of the cast iron skillet.

For some reason a "mob of zombies" sounds realistic.

Anyone else agree?

The correct term should be gaggle. Note how they shuffle back and forth with their heads bobbing, always looking for something to eat? Very similar to geese.

You never see zombies crapping all over like geese, however. Geese are tremendous defecators.

How about:

a congregation of zombies
a bunch of zombies
zombies galore
one zombie to many

The topic of zombies isn't exactly my forte.

So far, I like this one best:

...though I'm not quite sure I understand it. Maybe I don't know enough about zombies, or zombie films.

If anyone wants a bit of inspiration, the Collective Noun Page has plenty.

A "Gaggle".

Actually, what do we call any athering of multiple humanoids?

A "Group"

It doesnt have to be complicated.

As I posted in the other thread a few days ago, a group of zombies should be called a "Feast".
A Feast of zombies.
In order to classify it, we should use a term that has never been used for anything else and something that adequately describes the natural behaviour and actions of the group.
Astyanax, you agreed with me on the other thread, yes?

So how about it folks?

A Feast of Zombies.
