When an ATSNN post is in (submission) phase, the choices for escalation are VOTE YES and SEND ALERT. What does the SEND ALERT do?

I did a search with no luck. I contemplated clicking on it but chickened out.

If you think it's something really important it sends a message to the ATSNN staff so hopefully they see it and upgrade it sooner.

The opposite of "awarded points".

Thanks, djohnsto77. I'll have to remember to use it for all my submissions from now on.

as far as I am aware, the "send alert" option is for "breaking news" which will get an "Alert" tag in the headline and also bring the submission to the attention of the ATSNN mods for faster upgrade to a submission

So you lose points?

(Sorry if I don't understand correctly)

EDIT: Ok, I guess you lose 10 points.

That was easy.
