DivX Players

Topic started on 27-10-2003 @ 04:45 PM by maynardsthirdeye

Sometimes when I have a DVD on my computer, it says "pio" in front of it. Do I need to download a special DivX player to watch these movies?

Divx and DVD arent related..

DVD.. is legal

Divx.. isnt..

But if were you i would go and find K-Lite codec pack v.2.05f and install all of it without the TFM audio filter..

And then i would also install FFD filters..

And i would use MP 9 or BSPlayer..

I didn't see any FFD filters or TFM audio filters in that installation part.

Ok,

Good that TFM wasnt there..

It only #ed up the MP3 playback..

And about FFD.. (direct show..)

You must find it from some where else..

Btw.. you did uninstall all other codecs before you installed the pack?

I really hope you did..

I don't know what a codec is. My Matrix Reloaded played fine but this movie has a warning that comes up and says "Unknown file format ()."

K-Lite has a Gspot program with it..

You can check with that what is the codec..

It can also download and install it for you!

But the pack must be isntalled free of all other ogg/divx/xvid etc codecs.. (and all realated.. like div anti freeze..)

If you didnt uninstall them all now and the pack also..

then reboot..

Install K-lite pack and FFDSHOW and reboot again.

Then all formats should work.. even with a media player..

Like i said..

1) Uninstall all (AAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL) codecs and filters..

2) Reboot..

4) Install K-lite pack..
(You might also reboot in this 'turn'..)

5) install FFDSHOW..

6) Reboot..

7) Watch the movie cause your 'shyte' is now 'together'..

Are you sure there isn't something wrong with the configuration of these things since it is still coming up with that error message. Maybe the media is messed up. Thanks though.

If it has a '.pio'..

But you know it is a divx file.. try renaming it with the .avi 'end'..

And you have the Gspot on your comp now.. look what it tells you about the file..

And it also tells you that if you have or have not codecs to play it!

And if you dont have.. it will get them for you!

Well there was that horrid dvd atrocity that Circuit City was trying to peddle a few years back called Divx... it was basically trying to be a pay per view type format that you only had a certain limited time to watch a movie and then after that it would be unwatchable. Mercifully, it died a quick death.
