You could try this one. I use it a lot for Arabic translations etc. You only get a free trial, but you can subscribe. Its not a lot, and really usefull.

Hope this helps.

Heiroglyphics translator

This one is good enough, if all you want are heiroglyphics.

thanks...

but is there a way to "translate" (im not sure if this is the correct word) it back to english (based on how it is pronounced)???

for example, i used that site for an english to arabic translation, and i got this:

زعيمة

is there a way to translate that into english based on how that is pronounced???

any help would be great...

Modern Egyptians speak Arabic, so any translating site dealing with Arabic is probably sufficient. But spoken words to English words (a "universal translator", no. You have to deal with regional accents and voice differences, and we don't have enoung processor and CPU "oomph" to handle that. Otherwise the UN would be using it.

And a resounding "no" for ancient Egyptian.

Byrd,

You forgot to mention the translator that they see ALL has between his ears.

I haven't done it, but you have made the point several times here that learning to read heiroglyphics isn't as difficult as one might think.

on second thought, what i am looking for is an online "english to arabic" dictionary...

a quick google search brought me here:

Oilfield English-Arabic words and phrases...

something like this (but really in depth) would be really useful...

especially one that is all about the egyptian accents and dialects...

thanks so much to anyone who can help...
