Well, look at it this way. People have been predicting the collapse of the Internet since it started to get popular. If the Internet collapses next month, or a 1000 years from now, will they have been right?

The thing is, there have been and will always be doomsayers. And yet, for some reason, we're still here, plugging away. Sure things look dicey at the moment. But when haven't they? There have always been runaway plagues, destructive weather, swarms and whatnot.

Jesus predicted the end of the world within his disciple's lifetimes. So he was about as accurate as anybody.

Doom is pretty good show business, because it always leaves the audience wanting more.
