I like the aliens series. Does anyone remember from the first movie the 3rd species that was only seen in the "artifact"? It was a very large being sitting in some kind of chair with its chest ripped apart from the other aliens. That was a really cool part, showed another species- opening up the idea that there are numerous species out there. I wish they would have made some kind of story line or given a little history to that other creature.

Well...I got to thinking, yeah..a rarity eh?

Anyways..

I know MIB is a comedy and everything..and might not be right on target(at all) But...what if it was just a way to slowly put the ideas of alien races out into the public?
Say...they use all different kinds of alien races and names in that movie(s). Especially the Pledias(sp?).
Now..say that the Pleadias(sp?) do exist, and this is the government's way of getting it to the public..through the media? I dunno..it could happen..

I have to agree with the Aliens trilology, and independance day in a small amount. The main reason is for both movies depicture of alien technology as a mixture between organic and high tech, which in my mind is probably closer to what real aliens use. As far as the aliens themselves its mixed feelings, the aliens in the trilogy were more primitive hunter gather type, which makes me wonder how they ever built any technology, they just seemed way too primitive. But independance day was too "Hollywood".

I'm not going to wrack my brain too hard here, but I'm going to have to say that tommyknockers has my vote. I hope I'm thinking of the right movie here...Peace.

The more possible ones IMO would be:

#1 THE THING (bet there are a few nastys still frozen).

#2 FIRE IN THE SKY (that movie was NASTY... )

#3 SPHERE (Something buried in some deep sea trench)

#4 WAR OF THE WORLD (lets hope they dont bring any CODRAL cold an flu tabs with them...
)

Those would be my top 4.

Tommynockers was basically Quatermass and the Pit rewritten.
Seriously, if you guys haven't seen the Quatermass films, watch them, Nigel Kneale the guy who wrote them is the biggest influence on the Sci Fi genre, he also did the screenplay for the original teleplay of 1984, and this was at a time when TV programs went out LIVE.

Mars Attacks showed the real Martian technology, definitely.

CMON MA.... Mars Attacks was one of the most CHEEZY movies I have ever seen..... Why would aliens attack is with "ray guns" for no reason what so ever after we issue a peaceful treaty?

Humans are the most violent race in the universe... I highly doubt some aliens with the knowledge and technology that far surpasses our own will come and reduce the human race to extintion.

I'm not surprised I'm not the first to say it, Fire In The Sky. That movie creeped me out, and still does. And it all seems plausible, although I don't like to think about the "eye probe"

That thing in the chair is widely known as a jockey. It is widely speculated (and I believe confirmed in either the comics or another source) that the Aliens were in fact created by these jockeys. To me this makes perfect sense as the Aliens always seemed a little too perfect, this would give a perfect explanation to why they are such perfectly evolved hunters. I do not have all the information so look it up in google I am sure yu'll find plenty of information about them there.

As for the movies I am going to say The Aliens first simple for the evolutionary aspects. Then I would say fire in the sky, then the day the earth stood still, and war of the worlds. I am a sucker for classic Sci Fi.

My vote goes to Fire in the Sky.

The ending of this movie is frantic and...gasp...scary! I heard that some critics that were screened the movie before initial release left the theater in total shock and terror. Something about the portrayal of the aliens is truly goose-bump worthy.

Fire in the Sky turns me into a nutcase every time I watch it. It is scarier than any horror movie I have seen, even scarier than the Shining. I cant watch it alone at night or I will dart out of my bedroom hahaha. And the funny thing is, I am not even a huge believer of that sort of stuff. Sure, I think it is possible.. but I dont know that it is.. But that movie just really really creeps me out for some reason.

Definitely The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai: Across the 8th Dimension. Seriously though, the movie is good in a quirky, off the wall kind of way. I mean, who doesn't want to see a rock band, who's lead singer is a surgeon and a scientist, save the world.

I will definitely also say Fire in the sky. I love that movie. Oh and I thought Communion was pretty creepy at times, although it is based on a book by Whitley Streiber who is a complete nutcase now, but who's counting?

....and no-ones mentioned the 70's TV series Project Blue Book?!

To be honest I can't remember much about it, I just caught a few repeats in the early 80's, but surely it has to be fairly realistic given that it was based on actual accounts taken from the Airforce files.

Parts of certain movies and TV shows are similar to my experiences. My bodyguards are similar to the guys in the MIB movies. K-PAX was another. (No, I am not in a mental hospital.)
Some movies and TV shows are very real, IF the events happened as told....for ex. "The Invaders"...if there were a man who is trying to tell the public that dangerous aliens are trying to take over the Earth. A lot of sci-fi shows have elements of truth in them.
