It is because the image is too wide. Your image is 322px wide. The max it will allow is 320.

It needs a little trim.

The height of the file is 322px. Maximum allowed is 160 x 320.

You are entering the wrong address.

Currently you have it as:

Try: img182.imageshack.us...

Need info on signature url

I was trying to set up the signature lines. Whereas there's a plethora of guidance on the simple task of pasting the url for the avatar, I couldn't find anything that explained what (html) was required/permitted for the signature. I just wanted to start simple and display an image. Since just pasting the image url in the signature block didn't display it on the preview, I bracketed it with external image. I still didn't see the image in the preview. Would it be too much trouble just to add an example of signature setup to the new user info (immediately following the avatar setup)? I'm sure it is intuitive to everyone else.
Thx

EDIT: It shows up on the post, but not on the preview. So you can see this is my first post with avatar and signature customization. Still, it would be ever so helpful to add this small amount of guidance for new users. - thanks again.

Some more information on making signetures WOULD be helpful I think. Great suggestion!

I'll get something in there ASAP.

It also may be impossible to upload images using the Opera browser. Kept getting the misleading message "image type not supported." Had to break configuration and use IE, just for that operation. Browser issues might explain many of the users complaining about not being able to do one thing or another.

No, still don't see anything here.

the two main problems that newcomers have is that

1. They don't upload the image properly.

2. The image size is out of bounds. (larger than the space available for it)

Have any questions, post them here.

I can help to figure out what problems you are having.

The latest updated avatar instructions can be found here:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

There is also a link in my signature for avatar guidelines.
