I'm sure most of you at some time have heard of the FBI's Carnivore system and the NSA's ECHELON system, but now the Pentagon looks to go even furthur with thier project, i thought this article was pretty interesting.

news.bbc.co.uk
A newly declassified document gives a fascinating glimpse into the US military's plans for "information operations" - from psychological operations, to attacks on hostile computer networks.

Bloggers beware.

As the world turns networked, the Pentagon is calculating the military opportunities that computer networks, wireless technologies and the modern media offer.

From influencing public opinion through new media to designing "computer network attack" weapons, the US military is learning to fight an electronic war.

The declassified document is called "Information Operations Roadmap". It was obtained by the National Security Archive at George Washington University using the Freedom of Information Act.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

Since the article says this document was declassified that leads me to think that our military must already have this project up and running to some extent. I wonder if they could be using a highly upgraded Echelon system with attack capabilities. I wouldnt be suprised if this would be used against us to firewall us from the outside world like the way China does to thier people. I can understand using something like this a defensive measure since the U.S. is a huge target to international hackers/crackers but to go as far to maintain a global on/off switch for the entire digital world is kinda scary. The FBI has long worried about the capabilities of computer savvy people aka hackers who are dubbed in the media as criminals most of the time and they know that the internet as we know it today wouldnt of been possible if it were'nt for the work of hackers. But this goes much deeper too, this can be censorship, propaganda, psyops, corporate espionage and sabotage, and preemptive strikes on "hostile" networks all rolled into one package. The list of possibilities can go on and on if this project comes full circle if not already.

Not surprised. Wonder what's still classified.

Here's the declassified manual, with text blacked out.

I'm not surprised, either. This actually counts as support for what I have been trying to express since I started on ATS.

But when you think about it, information psy-ops isn't new at all. The military is well versed in manipulating information. Newspapers, radio, television, books......all have been utilized to influence the opinion and decision-making foundations of people for decades. The internet just makes everything faster and more convenient.

It just takes a discerning mind to disregard or accept whatever information you encounter......

Good find radioactive_liquid..

i know the psy-ops stuff is nothing new, but when i read that i started remembering back a few years ago when a couple programmers at Microsoft leaked out information that they had been adding backdoors directly into the windows source code for the NSA and had been doing it since windows '95. At the time a few cryptography specialists and some other software crackers found them too, naturally Microsoft and NSA deny it. But having these hidding backdoors in place would certainly make a pretty smooth affair for such a project the Pentagon aims to do. Afterall windows is the most widely used OS in the world and also the most exploited, I know this is jus one small piece of the pie but it certainly makes a pretty compatible counterpart to what this Pentagon project is. Heres a couple links about these backdoors although they are a few years old.

Great links RL. Thanks.

This is a great story too. Wonder why it's not getting attention here?

Readers should be aware that this site is a most probable location for such psyops. While many on this site seek to expose the truth, there are undoubtedly those here who seek to divert us from it.

One of the biggest goosechases that I've seen over the years is the alien cover-up. Americans have wanted to believe that aliens have been buzzing our planet for years. Our government psyops keep many conspiracy theorists busy chasing that goose and thus missing the more obvious things that are going on.

A pick-pocket will get your attention going on some sort of distraction while lifting your wallet. You won't know it's gone for hours.

A magician gets you looking at one hand or object, while completely missing what the other hand has done.

Presidential administrations would have you chasing terrorists, waving the flag, chanting patriotisms, watching a year long murder trial in the news, chasing a dozen false conspiracies, etc. while preparing the country for the new world order.

Yeah...this would be a great site to test a lot of psyops.

Ya think?

:

Ya mean like the Katrina/New Orleans takeover scam, or the Iraq for oil scam, or the climate-change-isn't-real scam - or what? And where the heck is my wallet?

Oh no the FBI and CIA are watching our every move! This has been going on for decades. Next time you see a MIB just smile and wave.

That's not the point. The point is with these obvious disinfo programs in the works atm, how can we sort the true from the false?

I do agree though that Fear is the mindkiller.

Hey - Just Thought I put a Link to the ATS Post with this Topic:

Pentagon: Internet Is 'Enemy Weapons System'

So, do you think we already classify as an Hostile Network?

I doubt it. They probably look at ATS as a site to spread their disinfo via willing dupes and paid agents (UFOs and Aliens,Anti-Environmental propoganda,anti-islamic rhetoric etc etc)
