Assad doubts existence of al-Qaeda
KUWAIT CITY (AP) - Syrian President Bashar Assad said in an interview published Sunday that he doubts the existence of al-Qaeda, the terror group blamed for the Sept. 11 attacks and recent strikes in Saudi Arabia and Morocco.

"Is there really an entity called al-Qaeda? Was it in Afghanistan? Does it exist now?" Assad asked, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Anba.

Such speculation is popular among some in the Arab world who say Washington has manufactured or exaggerated the threat posed by al-Qaeda in order to paint Muslims as dangerous.

«Countries facing the al-Qaeda threat are awaiting the intelligence Turkish security is to provide. Amid the smoke from the fortuitous fire emerged the possibility that al-Qaeda may not be, strictly speaking, an organization but an element of an intelligence agency operation.

Turkish intelligence specialists agree that there is no such organization as al-Qaeda.

Rather, Al-Qaeda is the name of a secret service operation. The concept “fighting terror” is the background of the “low-intensity-warfare” conducted in the mono-polar world order. The subject of this strategy of tension is named as “al-Qaeda.” »

There is no Terrorist Organization Called Al Qaida

…Nese Düzel from Radikal (a Turkish newspaper) asked this question and more on Al Qaida to Mahir Kaynak, a former academic and a former intelligence officer. He has suggested different and debateful views, which will be summarized in this article.

Further more he argued that there is no Al Qaida. According to Kaynak, Al Qaida is the name of the operation carried out by an intelligence service, which is CIA…With this operation an anti-Islam front among the peoples of the world is tried to be created.

The Power of Nightmares seeks to overturn much of what is widely believed about Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida.

The latter, it argues, is not an organised international network.

It does not have members or a leader.
It does not have "sleeper cells".
It does not have an overall strategy.
In fact, it barely exists at all, except as an idea about cleansing a corrupt world through religious violence.

«Al Qaeda does not exist and never has»

«The basic truth is that Al Qaeda does not exist and never has. Al Qaeda is a manufactured enemy who was created by the Bush Administration in order to have an excuse to wage a war for the control of the world"s oil resources.»

Norwegian professor Johan Galtung

www.aftenposten.no...

- Al-Qaida er en amerikansk fiksjon

Terrororganisasjonen Al-Qaida er noe USA har
funnet på, mener den omstridte fredsforskeren
Johan Galtung.

- Etter min vurdering er al-Qaida noe Washington
har funnet på, en typisk Pentagon-projeksjon,
sier Galtung.

I never heard of "Ql-Queda" before 9/11, it was always just "Osama Bin Laden", after 9/11 the Americans realized that this act was just commited by 1 man and a small group of followers, the operation itelf was very simple, take basic flight lessons, take control of the plane with small knives, crash the plane somewhere.

They wanted a war so they manufactured an enemy and used it as an excuse to illegally attack and occupy a soverign nation.

Dont forget British PM Tony Blair:

Fox News
Commenting on the possible role of Al Qaeda, Blair said, "Al Qaeda is not an organization. Al Qaeda is a way of working ... but this has the hallmark of that approach."

Also check out the last part of British documentary series "The Power Of Nightmares":
The Shadows in the Cave [73MB]

The first time the al Qaeda was mentioned in the media was about 20 days after the East African bombings.
A few months before the attacks there was an article on CNN about Osama bin Laden threatening to attack American troops in the Middle East, however they said "Osama bin Laden and a group of his followers," nothing about al Qaeda, which is supposed to be this big international terrorist organization with cells in every major city.

There might be an al Qaeda, but I don't think it's a big international terrorist organization, at most it's just bin Laden and a group of his followers, or then it just doesn't exist, like Blair said.

In formal communications, Bin Laden has preferred to use the International Front for Jihad against the Jews and Crusaders as the name for the grouping rather than "al-Qaeda".

While common usage of the name "al-Qaeda" dates from much earlier, 2001 saw the first formal use of the name "al-Qaeda" for the grouping when the American government decided to prosecute Bin Laden in his absence using anti-Mafia laws that required the existence of a named criminal organisation. Bin Laden himself is probably the best source for the origin of the al-Qaeda label. Speaking in 2001 he said: "The name 'al Qaeda' was established a long time ago by mere chance. The late Abu Ebeida El-Banashiri established the training camps for our mujahedeen against Russia's terrorism. We used to call the training camp al Qaeda [meaning 'the base' in English]. And the name stayed."

en.wikipedia.org...

That would be why you didn't hear about them a lot until just before 9/11. There was another thread on here a few months ago, and someone found new articles dating back to the 90s mentioning Al Qaeda by name, so it HAS been around, they just weren't The Enemy until around 9/11.

''Al-Qaida is not an organization anymore, it is
a concept,'' said Jordanian political analyst Labib Kamhawi.
''There is a lot of appeal for the concept itself.''»

«''On balance, I would be surprised if there wasn't any
foreign participation,'' he said. ''Al-Qaida does not have
membership cards, and as such, linkages can occur
on many different levels.''

I doubt this will be of much interest to anyone, but I thought I'd share it anyway. It's an article from the Washington Times regarding Clinton's appearance before the 9-11 commission. He stated that there was insufficient evidence to link Al Qaeda to the U.S.S. Cole bombing, and he seems to suggest that intelligence with respect to Al Qaeda was fairly ambiguous in general. The article goes on to say the link to the Cole bombing was established firmly only after the new administration took office. I just thought this was one of many small indicators of the lack of clarity regarding Al Qaeda's structure and operation prior to 9-11.

Bin Laden created AQ with a few others after Afghanistan where he cut his teeth as a warrior and became a war hero. He trained mostly Sunnis Muslims and began to carry out terror attacks. Al-qeada was never the name, is was the ldeology.

Established by Usama Bin Ladin in the late 1980s to bring together Arabs who fought in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union. Helped finance, recruit, transport, and train Sunni Islamic extremists for the Afghan resistance. Current goal is to establish a pan-Islamic Caliphate throughout the world by working with allied Islamic extremist groups to overthrow regimes it deems “non-Islamic” and expelling Westerners and non-Muslims from Muslim countries–particularly Saudi Arabia. Issued statement under banner of “the World Islamic Front for Jihad Against the Jews and Crusaders” in February 1998, saying it was the duty of all Muslims to kill US citizens—civilian or military—and their allies everywhere. Merged with Egyptian Islamic Jihad (Al-Jihad) in June 2001.

These are three other names they have and do go by

Islamic Army for the Liberation of the Holy Places
World Islamic Front for Jihad Against Jews and Crusaders
Islamic Salvation Foundation

What alot of you folks do not understand is that AQ is not just suicicde bombeers, they are trained fighters who are putting up quite a fight right now in Iraq. Call them what you want, but they are real.

read the below link, and see how even an Amreican can join Al-Qeada

Just by the way esdad71, if you download the al-queda manual and look at it, i find it to be a very edited version, with biased view. Everytime it mentions Jihad it has in brackets next to it (Holy war) even when it doesnt fit the context.
If you go study the qur'an you will see jihad is not just used as a definition of a holy war, but can be a fight with-in one's self.
So it they are implying that everytime they mention Jihad, they are meaning holywar, doesnt that show a taint in the translation.
How do i know the rest is credible?
If there a copy in pharsi?

So basicly what you're saying is al Qaeda is sort of like a label which can be applied to any random Islamist militant organization, like the ones mentioned above.
Then when you're using the name al Qaeda to refer to say the 'Islamic Salvation Foundation', others use it to refer to the 'World Islamic Front for Jihad Against Jews and Crusaders', some to the insurgents in Iraq and so on, it then in turn creates the illusion that all these organizations are connected as a network and that 'al Qaeda' is doing all these attacks or whatever all over the world. While the truth is that most of these organizations are not connected, thus al Qaeda as an international organized terrorist network does not exist.

If you wish to beleive there is no such thing as Al-Qeada, that is your business. As always, I am attmepting to give a little information to back up my claims.

I was attempting to show that AQ is known as a few different names, and that doea not mean they do not exist, it would mean they may be larger than you think.

So, I guess he just whipped this up at the FOX new truck...I am not rying to scare nyone with AQ, I just want people to know they exist on a grander scale than the LEft would lead you to believe. We are losing the war in Iraq, jsut as the Russains lost in Afghanistan, and it is hte same fighters and their descedants who are fighting us now in Iraq.

Please back it up with some kind of text or link or proof., I read your post, and there is nothing to it. It reads like a left wing circle. You know what that is? No mater what the issue is, you will always circle back to Bush or conspiracy. get it?

Please Take the time and read whati have posted about AQ, which is fact, not speculation. Use google, and read a left and a right wing article and come to a conclusion on your own.

It was not Prime Minister Tony Blair but Metropolitan Police Commissioner Ian Blair
