A court in the United Kingdom ruled that British terrorist suspect Haroon Aswat may be extradited to the United States, following assurances from the American government that he'll be tried in civil court, not by military tribunal. Aswat is wanted by the U.S. on charges of trying to set up a terrorist training camp in Oregon. He has also been implicated in the 7/7 bombings in London.

LONDON (Reuters) - A British man arrested in Africa can be sent to the United States to face trial on charges of plotting to set up a training camp in the western state of Oregon, a British court ruled on Thursday.

Haroon Aswat, 30, has been held in Britain, fighting extradition to the United States since being arrested in Zambia six months ago.

A criminal complaint filed in U.S. federal court accuses him of conspiring to set up a camp in Bly, Oregon in 1999 and 2000 to train fighters for war in Afghanistan.

This guy is very interesting. He was nabbed in connection to the 7/7 bombings, and may have been employed and protected, at least at one point, by MI6. I hope some details do emerge if he is indeed handed over to U.S. authorities.
