By the way, you're talking about all the whisltes and bells and stuff...

Those who make their pods all uppity and produced, with all the intro music, reverb and stuff, and make it 30 minutes long and have ten minutes worth of stuff.....

If I wanted to listen to Rush Limbaugh, I would.

I'm solidly with Thomas on this one, if I wanted bells and whistles i'd go buy a toy train set. Oh I did try putting a bit of my favorite poetry at the lead of some of my casts. I didn't like it.

Of course, everyones podcasts are their own and if they want to try and impress...umm....who ever, then by all means I suppose they should go for it. I'll be keeping it simple.

I initially tend to agree with you on keeping it simple TC, but then again, at the moment I have no creative outlet and this one intrigues me. If I want to get fancy for some of them I will mark them raw or frivolous so you can know which ones to avoid.

Edit: MrWupy, what are you listening to the podcasts with? I'm at least going to take a survey here, even if I can't learn anything.

I like a littler bit of background music is nice and helps to relax while listening.

I have a folder in my PODcast Folder called Sound Effects. That's where I will store them.
www.stonewashed.net...
On the page linked above, click on "Amazing Sounds".
There's a list of categories.
Pick "Human Sounds".
Go down to "Applause" and right click on applause.wav.
Select Save (file or link) As
Locate your Sound Effects folder and save it there.
Open Audacity
Select Project / Import Audio
Locate and click on applause.wav.
Click File/Export as mp3 and save it in your Sound Effects folder.

Then you have it!

In my experience so far (which isn't much) you just have to play around in Audacity to learn it. There's also the on-line help.

You can import a track of music, (Project, Import Audio) select it, choose amplify, pick a number like -4 or -5 to bring the volume down. Then add your voice on another track and then export the whole thing. Make sure to listen to it first.

Thanks BH - Exactly what I am talking about. I see podwomen - ummm... I mean podpeople thanking others for the help from other members to get going, but I think we need a public effort for everyone.

I haven't a clue what program I use to listen to podcasts. I click on the podcast and a new window opens with a little bar centered in it. After a few moments the little button on the bar starts moving from left to right and I hear the podcast. It lists no name or identifies what program it is, and I haven't bothered to research it. It's not broke so i'm not about to try and fix it

like I said I'm not the best teacher for anything hehehe, but yeah thats how i learned pretty much everything I know is through trial and error, too bad there is no CTRL Z in real life...

SO - you hit the nail on the head, I'd like to play more with the medium, but the post production is what's killing me.

Zedd, excellent. I have to try the new software at some point. Unfortunately I am two weeks out from a major move and in all fairness to DH I really shouldn't get all caught up in it just yet. So for the next few weeks it don't expect any changes from my podcasting, till I get settled and can really give it some time.

Keep the suggestions coming everyone.
