Anybody know how to get rid of acne. I hate it because now all the girls don't like me even though they have it worse than I do. But they are girls so they think that it only matters if guys have it, not themselves.

A cure for the common teen?

Every one is different and there are many treatments for acne.
I'm not a dermatologist so if you feel like you have done everything you can think of, maybe you should see one.

Acne isn't only a problem for teens. I hope you find some help in your problem.
Here is a web site you might be interested in.

Thank you for that. Next weekend I'll ride my bike and get some over the counter stuff. (do I have to have an adult to buy acne medication? I mean its not a prescription so I shoudn't have to)

Maybe I'll go to the doctor first so I can see what type would be good.

I would definitely suggest going to see your doctor first, a skin specialist or dermatologist would be even better (altho a lil more pricey) but yes your GP should be able to steer U in the right direction

mind me asking what your diet is like ? my sister is a naturopath and could maybe provide some helpful diet tips if U would like me to ask her ?

lol @ the girls having it worse than U do yet being all high'and'mighty :shk:
It sticks around in girls longer from what I have seen so U shall have the last laugh my friend

I do not eat a lot of candy. I am not addicted to candy. I used to drink a lot of soda but I stopped and now I am like addicted to orange juice and water. I drink OJ at night now! weird. I am a picky eater. Very picky. Like I only like Shrimp, Hamburgers, Pasta, Sausages, Hasbrowns, pankakes, fries, Italian sausage(making me hungry), and steak. I might like more things but I don't know. Maybe salad very occasionally and only with italian dressing. No I did not forget pizza I do not like it.

Doesn't sugar cause acne? Cause my sister should be getting it way more than am. She eats candy everyday, like alot. Unfortunately if I ever do eat candy or something, I will eat kind of a lot. But then I won't eat any for a month. I mean I don't eat like A LOT but I eat like 5 pieces and they I stop for like 2 weeks.

I think my dad had it real bad. He had to get like government alien injections lol. No actually he had to get the ultraviolet rays. Never heard of it. Was he getting a tan or getting acne taken off?

Ok I will see if I can find something in what U have told me regarding what you're eating, however to my understanding, diet doesn't have everything to do with it. Just keep in mind that this is just advice, I am in no way qualified, I can only offer my opinion from those I have known who have dealt with it.

I had one friend who had chronic acne, and she was told it had something to do with her blood and so was put on some sort of government-approved antibiotics as well as the UV ray treatments (U would be surprised how good UV light/Vitamin D can be for curing ailments of the skin, it's worked wonderfully for me with scarring and such)

Like I suggested earlier, see your doctor and take it from there. I would also suggest a 2nd opinion just to be sure your GP isn't dismissing a REAL solution for U

Acne just *happens* for some people. You really have no say in the matter.

Luckily I was never caught by it but I'd advise you to get something containing a high amount of Witch Hazel extract. You should also be using a facial wash with an exfoliator (little beads) in it that will help get rid of the dead skin from your face.

Don't be tempted by the "anti spot" face washes specifically targeted at teenagers. They're often far too strong and will leave your skin feeling leathery.

Just keep clean and drink tons of water, it shouldnt last long.

Ya its kind of an off and on thing. Like one week there will be some and another week there is not. Except the acne between my eyebrows. That never goes away for some reason.

Some heavy acne can be caused by like a bacterial infection. Treatment for heavy acne has used anti biotics in recent years with some good results. An Antibacterial ointment called batcroban which is also known as Chlorsig when used for treating pink eye has been used with success on a few young people I know with heavy acne. Your doctor can help with that if you speak to him/her

It can also be caused by a lymph system inbalance and that's where the previously mentioned naturapath can help diagnose and treat.

It is also hormonal and seeing as teens have much of those zipping around it usally can't be helped. Most teens cannot avoid getting some acne. care of skin, keeping it cleansed and treated and a well balanced diet with plenty of water can help.

Indeed, it worked well for me, my face is clearer and alot less oily.

Avoid drinking too much acidic stuff like Orange Juice for example, it makes it worse. Also keep a decent diet.

My Russian grandmother once told me when I was younger to put some kind of yeast crap on my face to get rid of acne. I also heard once that urine was a good treatment for acne.................I kid you not!

I skipped the urine and went with the Noxzema.

Peace

HI,

Wash your face as many times as u can during the day. This will highly reduce the oil content on ur skin and reduce acne.

Also as you grow older, it will disappear on its own. And no matter how tempted you are, DO NOT burst the pimples.

DON'T use soaps, except palmolive soap bar and only 2, 3 times a week.

The rest of the time JUST use soap and water.

UV also helps, hit the tanning bed, some dermatologists recommend it.

It also dependson what kind of acne you have there a few different kinds.

If you have a white head or black head DON'T touch it.

Alcohol will help, and sulfer will dry it out. If you can find face masking creams w/ sulfer in it, just dab it on the affected area, the swelling will go down and it will almost be obsolete the next day.

Proactive has a sulfuric mask.

Picking at your face will spread the virus/bacteria making it worse.

TOOTPASTE will also dry a pimple, whitehead out if you cant find sulfur.

Benzoyl Peroxide 3% is also recommended by dermatologists.

You can buy it over the counter sometimes.

I have more tips but thats good for now.
Good luck

myths and more myths

Oil hasn't been proven by dermatologists that it's a cause for acne, neither has candy.

It's genetic, and washing your face as many times as you can in the day will irritate your skin and possibly make him break out more.

Dr.Love,

I've never heard of the urine thing, but it would make sense as urine is very sterile and can act as an sanitizer.

Maybe when im in a kinky mood one of these days i'll get my man to sanitize my face

I was about to say the same thing re - washing too much. This isn't good for the natural balance of your skin and has nothing to do with clearing acne.

oh my @ the last sentence, I don't know bout that but I'm happy for U to report back
lol

That would be much anticipated!

They might have to create a new subforum for that thread though.

I know this sounds odd - but I believe that essential fatty acids REALLY help with acne. If you take some cod liver oil - or something like that in the morning - then eat some nuts at some point in the day, I reckon you'll see an improvement after a few weeks. I'm serious - I know it sounds a bit pony but it's true. The fact is that doctors still aren't 100% sure what causes acne in different people but they do know it can be down to hormones. EFAs (essential fatty acids) help regulate these.

Anyway, I've been there - if all else fails, go to the doctor. Antibiotics cure most from what I hear and if not Roaccutane's like a wonder drug.
