WINNIPEG -- A Winnipeg-based folk group called The Wyrd Sisters is asking an Ontario court to block the distribution of the upcoming Harry Potter movie across Canada.

The group is also suing Warner Brothers and three famous British musicians over a scene in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire that allegedly depicts a band called The Wyrd Sisters playing on a stage.

I guess a few months ago Warner Bros. offered five grand to the band for use of the name.

I'm sure in the end the movie will be distributed just fine.

parrhesia.

To be honest I've only seen the first movie, and part of the one that has spiders in it.

Although it is no biggie to us I'm sure fans are going to go berserk

I'm a big Harry Potter fan, loved the books, but the movies have thus far been very disappointing.

And given that GoF was like twice the length of the first books, I can only imagine how it's been butched and messed with.

There is a book written by Terry Pratchett called Wyrd Sisters so why did they not kick up about it until now maybe Terry Pratchett should take the canadian band to court

Let's put it this way:

Warner Bros. $$$ > Wyrd Sisters $$$
Wyrd Sisters could care less
Wyrd Sister want money
Warner Bros. will make TONS of cash by paying them off and putting the movie on

Nothing to worry about.

Although, iirc, The Wyrd Sisters in the book are a big hit.
